I asked on TWX whether I should go and see The Stranglers tonight. I had convinced myself to go at one point.

Obviously I didn't, but mainly because of a 10 second clip of 'Peaches' from the Move Festival which was on ITV last night, which was one of the worst things it has ever been my displeasure to see.

This is the thread where you tell me I fucked up royally, and the Stranglers in 2004 are stil a worthwhile proposition.

I wish I could help but I haven't heard the new version of the Stranglers. Why did the Peaches video turn you off? I haven't seen it, don't like the song much. It's okay.

I'm still crazy about La Folie right now.

Oh, it was just absolute crap - or looked it on the telly at least. The back line was still as solid as ever (although Dave Greenfield looked a bit bored) but the replacement singer was like Jimmy Pursey impersonating Hugh Cornwell. It didn't help it was the "she looks like she's trying to get out of that clitoris" line, which is cringe inducing anyway...

But with all grief attached to going to Ashton Court this year (they closed the bridge even to pedestrians so you had to take the 'official' bus, increased admission charges again) I decided I was better served in the pub instead.
