Ta;king about the ones that have come out in the Uk in the last few months. They seem to fit into 3 broad categories:
Themed ones: Disco Funk, Crossover, Levan mixes, etc...
Famous people choosing them ones: Marshal Jeferson, etc..
12" masters: vol 1, 2, plus more in the future I assume
It's great that these have come out, but my problem is that with so much coming out at once - at least 10 so far - its impossible to work out how much crossover there is betweeen them, etc... Esp as I have the previous 3 volumes of the greatest hits that came out Charley a few years ago.
Anyway: S+D. Which ones are best. So far I@ve got the Larry Levan mixes, whcih is pretty good, and the Crossover one, which i have't really had a chance to listen tpo properly yet, although the good thing is that it seems to have some earlier stuff on and stuff that isn't on other comps.

I revived this thread -
salsoul: search & destroy - recently to talk about one of these and there was a bit of reaction. Apologies if you've already read.
I actually meant to ask about the 12" Masters series rather than the Disco Funk one, so I would welcome views on those.

Not Salsoul but if we're talking disco comps, the west end 30th anniversary one is cool, wicked tunes but with MAW re-edits when needed. Plus its one song one side on the vinyl so its a nice pressing. Also danny krivit grass roots and also louie vegas new one on choice, mixed live at his house, is incredible.
I know what you mean about reaching saturation point, but as most of the tunes featured never charted and were/are never covered by the non-dancing music press, its only fair this music is finally getting the props it deserves.
