Misheard Lyrics - Post 2 weeks edition

Pixies - "I'm Amazed":-

apparently the lyrics are "And when I was a little boy,
A ball of string my favorite toy"
i always thought it was "And when I was a little boy,
momma spanked my dad into a grave"

and i'm still not convinced that i'm wrong.

When she was a kid, my wife thought the Supremes were singing, "Stop, in the name of the law."

the same one as everyone else:

"liverpool's where i belong
in my mersey parasdise"

On the same Pixies album, as a teenager I thought the chorus to Vamos went "Mama's a hooger for the pliers". This didn't really mean anything to me. About ten years later I discovered they were singing in Spanish.

When I was v. young I thought the words to Psycho Killer were:

"We are vain and we are blind
I hate people when they're not for lunch"

My wife's odd reading of "You Oughta Know":

"It's not fair to deny me
Of the cross-eyed bear that you gave to me"

My friend said:

"When I was a kid I was freaked out by "Ziggy Stardust", because I thought the line "Making love with his ego..." was "Making love with his eagles". !!!

For some reason I always heard the line from the Replacements' "I'll Be You" as "I pull a bullet right out of my skull" instead of "I'm bored right out of my skull." My misheard lyric would've been good for a Misfits song.

Eric B & Rakim "Paid In Full":

"I feel great, maybe I might just search for a 9 to 5/ If I die, maybe I'll stay alive". (The first time I heard it when I was 10.)

Trail of Dead: "If I made a list of my mistakes and regrets..."

A Montreal friend of mine has heard it as "a list of the 18TH CENTURY GREATS." he has, in fact, then started a band called the XVIII Century Greats, which put out a moderately well-received album.

I really embarressed myself by singing out loud:

"I am the sun, I am the air..."

How everyone laughed at me.
