Traum - Search und Destroy

Perhaps not as prolific as Kompakt, but equally worthy of its own thread. Elektronische Musik -Interkontinental 3 is Truam's Total 3 and might well serve as a sufficient stand-in for this year's lack of a Total 6 [even if it came out six mos. ago].

The Process album is also very good.

Interkontinental 3 is really good, I got in NYC when I was there for No Fun Fest, one of my local DJs gets a spin.

Must-have: Oliver Hacke's "Polar"

Search: All 3 Oxtongue Tracks, "Train To Barcelona" by Akufen

Is Interkontinental 3 a drastic improvement over the first two volumes? I found the first 2 volumes to be passable, but not really worthy of any serious time.

Is Oliver Hacke's "21:31" on Trapez or Traum? Either way, search out that one too.

-Interkontinental 3 is indeed a drastic improvement over the first two volumes (especially the first). Of course that's if you consider more beat-driven tracks vs. ambient tracks an improvement.

The Interkontinental series has progressed from nearly entirely ambient material on 1 to about 70% v. 30% ambient v. beat-driven tracks on 2 to the reverse (possibly 80% v. 20%) beat-driven to ambient material on 3.

3's a huge step forward for Traum (at least if you're after lush, melodic tracks that bounce v. lush, melodic tracks that lull).

Traum #22 'Dig Deep' by Broker/Dealer contains the incredibly sublime 'boots and pants' (as heard on the triple r 'friends' mix) Magnificent.

one year passes...
Always thought Traum/Trapez/etc were pretty classy but is anyone else totally *feeling* the Triple R "Flashback" mix on My Best Friend? It's great... & Barnes/Reinhold "Someday" is one of the best Barnes-related tracks yet.

Flashback is ace! And he didn't even stick Cosmic Sandwich on there.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Sunday, 7 August 2005 08:08 (twenty years ago)

I know, it would have been *perfect* with Cosmic Sandwich stuck in there somewhere. That Youthanasia track is one of the few things that appropriates "Blue Monday" that doesn't make me cringe.

Is Flashback quite a melancholy disc at times? Or am I just having a rough weekend.

eight months pass...
Anyone have any thoughts on Interkontinental 5? I loved vol 4, and this one is mixed by Triple R, but on the other hand I recognise very few of the artists.

no thoughts yet, it arrived in the mail though...

willem -- (willem), Thursday, 27 April 2006 11:03 (nineteen years ago)

Is it actually mixed?

Neither Boomkat nor the Kompakt Shop seemed to hint as much (but I did see on Discogs that whomever posted the early info indicated it is mixed).

Shame if it is or were or was as I've enjoyed the previous unmixed editions (and don't buy vinyl). Not to mention, Herr Triple R hasn't knocked the ball out of the park since Friends {the Trapez Selections leaving me wanting something more, or at minimum, else...}.

Zimmer026 (Zimmer026), Thursday, 27 April 2006 16:42 (nineteen years ago)

Yes, it is mixed.

Good Dog (Good Dog), Thursday, 27 April 2006 17:21 (nineteen years ago)

Weak. Lame.

Guess I'll be buying digital, unmixed tracks from the Kompakt-MP3 store then.

I guess that "mixed by" bit at the top seals it.

Wow - look at that unicorn, and rainbow!
