and better yet, if one where to name some folk singers, the first three being Vashti, Linda, and Turid - who would the rest be?
ie. Search and Destroy - 70s Female Acid Folk Singers the World Over

A Swedish Linda Perhacs or Vashti Bunyan, they just did reisues on Stockholm's Silence label (the same guys who did the Parson Sound/Harvester/Trad, Gras och Stenar releases, which may i add are FUCKING AWESOME)
I first heard about her existence from Lucas Moodyson's film Together about a hippie commune in the suburbs, but forget her name for two years until i chanced upon the reissue on the Silence Website. Beautiful voice, mostly in Swedish - as they said, 'you can't understand what the hell she is talking about but you sure as hell will like to hear her sing about it'
And i dunno, Karen Dalton is good, but very different. I'm not to sure, i think this whole thing came from Devendra Banhart saying his three favourite artist were Vashti, Linda and Karen in recent interviews. Perhaps the cause of this recent hype?
The album I Retur is like a compilation from her three albums. Like Linda Perhacs, she completely disappeared from music after those albums. Since this folk thing got started again, people are wondering, like Vashti, whether or not she'll surface again, and perhaps turn up on a record like Rejoicing in the Hands or something
