i can't do any work. each day i think it's the start of a new dawn, but no, i lapse by 11 and sink back into searching, browsing, even watching the transfers go thru, percent by percent.

help me. i need a 12 step plan.

"suspect," hell i know i am

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 22 July 2004 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Step one: admit that you are powerless over Soulseek, and that you will still feel incomplete even after downloading that very last acetate demo of Fela Kuti jamming on surf-metal songs with Bjork and Harry Partch.

briania (briania), Thursday, 22 July 2004 16:37 (twenty-one years ago)

you've admitted it, that's the first step.

I am still in denial about it. I'm not continuously addicted, I just have downloading binges. I've had a few "lost weekend"s due to slsk.

Oh hey, thanks for reminding me I needed to clear my finished transfers.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 22 July 2004 16:38 (twenty-one years ago)

C/D: checking your tranfers and seeing this weirdness where all the downloads are flashing blue, red, blue, red, Initializing, Failed, Initializing, Failed; pondering; realizing the cause is that your hard drive is FULL

"You have about 0.6 days of privileges left."

cutty (mcutt), Thursday, 22 July 2004 17:15 (twenty-one years ago)

going cold turkey on slsk is worse than going cold turkey on blow

carafaty, Thursday, 22 July 2004 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

My computer crashed and SLSK isn't working on it. My body hurts because of it.

Sonny A. (Keiko), Thursday, 22 July 2004 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

"You have about 0.6 days of privileges left."
FUCK

Fortunately, the payment system is better automated now. Instead of the 24 or 48 hours it used to take, now your privleges begin within a minute or two after sending your cash.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Thursday, 22 July 2004 17:23 (twenty-one years ago)

what bothers me, is that whereas your audiogalaxys and yr napsters closed down mere months after i began on them, slsk is still up/jivin like there's no tomorrow after mo than a year. how long can it last?!! hey, maybe itll be here forever?
it's gone very eerily/suddenly quiet on the RIAA clampdown hype-o-rama front...

piscesboy, Thursday, 22 July 2004 18:02 (twenty-one years ago)

soulseek has been up for more than 3 years at this point, brainiac

cutty (mcutt), Thursday, 22 July 2004 18:14 (twenty-one years ago)

My brush with Mr.Show: If you look closely, you can see that I am standing directly next to the drunk woman that David Cross berated in the Portland scene of his "Let America Laugh" DVD. It's true!

ianinportland (ianinportland), Thursday, 22 July 2004 18:15 (twenty-one years ago)

david cross alone =! mr show

fuck him

cutty (mcutt), Thursday, 22 July 2004 18:15 (twenty-one years ago)

June 17, 2004 -- COMEDIAN David Cross felt a little shortchanged the other night at the Slipper Room, where dwarf actor Peter Dinklage was celebrating his birthday with the likes of Paul Rudd, Stephen Dorff and Norman Reedus. We hear that Cross falsely accused the Lower East Side lounge's barmaid of "watering down" his shot of Patron tequila and demanded his money back. "He was yelling at her and being really belligerent," tattles our spy. Cross' tantrum elicited eye rolls from the bar's staff, who are unlikely to send the cranky comic any free rounds during his next visit.

cutty (mcutt), Thursday, 22 July 2004 18:17 (twenty-one years ago)

he wishes he had beer commercials.

artdamages (artdamages), Thursday, 22 July 2004 18:20 (twenty-one years ago)

cutty (mcutt), Thursday, 22 July 2004 18:22 (twenty-one years ago)

artdamages (artdamages), Thursday, 22 July 2004 18:37 (twenty-one years ago)

He was also in that Phil Hartman movie about the toys coming to life, too. I think he'll take any role he's offered.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Thursday, 22 July 2004 18:39 (twenty-one years ago)

And he really digs Superchunk!

artdamages (artdamages), Thursday, 22 July 2004 18:41 (twenty-one years ago)
