stevie (stevie), Friday, 23 July 2004 07:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Ask Spike Jonze.

Enrique (Enrique), Friday, 23 July 2004 07:41 (twenty-one years ago)

If anybody knows, and has press contacts for him, please could they let me know? Thanks.

stevie (stevie), Friday, 23 July 2004 07:43 (twenty-one years ago)

isn't this song old? or are we talking album?

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Friday, 23 July 2004 08:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Tim H has been enthusing about this a lot lately. There's something about it in the Spike Jonze Directors File DVD which for some reason I own but still haven't watched yet.

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Friday, 23 July 2004 09:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Spike did the vid for the Pharcyde and then made this 30min doc called 'What's Up Fatlip?' It played at the ICA couple years back and is on the DVD. I haven't got round to it. Apparently Fatlip has become an eccentric.

Enrique (Enrique), Friday, 23 July 2004 09:02 (twenty-one years ago)

he's on a couple of Jackass clips too

Porkpie (porkpie), Friday, 23 July 2004 09:04 (twenty-one years ago)

> Spike Jonze Directors File DVD

bought this, along with the Gondry one, on saturday because they were cheap in HMV. unfortunately, both sides of both disks have flecks on them, flecks of what looks like the same stuff they used to print the label in the middle and which is impossible to get off.

koogs (koogs), Friday, 23 July 2004 10:32 (twenty-one years ago)

the album is appearing on soulseek - or at least 8 tracks. and the file tags have a 2004 date - so, was wondering if this is being released.

stevie (stevie), Friday, 23 July 2004 10:35 (twenty-one years ago)

That's a clear case of take 'em back. I don't like double-sided DVDs. Too risky.

[Out of interest, anyone own the Chris Cunningham one? Loads of people -- me, koogs -- have the other two, but not CC's]

Enrique (Enrique), Friday, 23 July 2004 10:36 (twenty-one years ago)

we have the other two as well; friends brought the Cunningham one round, but i thought it was quite same-y, to be honest.

my friend vezza helps run the Antenna nights at the NFT, great and groundbreaking music videos. last night's evening was awesome. www.antennapromo.co.uk

stevie (stevie), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:12 (twenty-one years ago)

that looks great, fuck. need to move to london/get off arse occasionally.

Enrique (Enrique), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:17 (twenty-one years ago)

there was a great atmosphere there as well, a really fine evening. Graham Linehan will be at the next one, apparently.

stevie (stevie), Friday, 23 July 2004 11:30 (twenty-one years ago)

i think it got pushed back. i remember seeing a spring release date at one point.

danh (danh), Friday, 23 July 2004 13:30 (twenty-one years ago)

That Spike Jonze short film on Fatlip made him (Fatlip) seem kinda creepy and sad.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 23 July 2004 13:39 (twenty-one years ago)

ON A LABEL THAT'S UNSTABLE CHOPPIN BLIGGY ON THE TABLE

cutty (mcutt), Friday, 23 July 2004 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

that movie made me uncomfortable

danh (danh), Friday, 23 July 2004 14:55 (twenty-one years ago)

oh man i love that fucking song.

peter smith (plsmith), Friday, 23 July 2004 14:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Me too.

St. Nicholas (Nick A.), Friday, 23 July 2004 14:58 (twenty-one years ago)

There needs to be more over-the-top-to-the-point-of-being-depressing self-deprecation in hip hop.

St. Nicholas (Nick A.), Friday, 23 July 2004 14:58 (twenty-one years ago)

That song, video, and documentary by Jonze are all completely classic. I think it takes huge balls for Fatlip to so directly and amusingly relay the anecdote that is the crux of Spike Jonze's film -- I won't spoil it here, but it's an excellent anecdote.
I had assumed this was released and vanished years ago...
I will definitely buy this. I also saw some ad in the L.A. Weekly about a new Pharcyde album -- "Humboldt Beginnings" I think it was called? Not sure if Fatlip is on it, though -- off to research that, I guess.
But yes, CLASSIC. Search that short film and the song's video...

three months pass...
Yeah, I just watched this.
Holy shit, this is amazingly funny and sad!

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Sunday, 31 October 2004 21:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Um, the 12 was out literally years ago. Lyrics are awesome but the beat's weak as fuck.

pikmin, Sunday, 31 October 2004 23:33 (twenty-one years ago)

one year passes...
I got interview okay in two hours. What would you ask Fatlip?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 28 July 2006 21:23 (nineteen years ago)

ask him about slim kid becoming a scientolgist

Supercalifragilisticexpiala Brosius (chaki), Friday, 28 July 2006 21:36 (nineteen years ago)

That was actually on the list already.
I also want to know what video games he's playing.
And why Theloneliest Monk aka Revenge of the Nerd took five years to come out.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 28 July 2006 21:42 (nineteen years ago)

ask him if you dressed up like a chick if you could suck his dick

Mike Hooter (jaxon), Friday, 28 July 2006 21:45 (nineteen years ago)

Uh, no.
But I would like to know what th' fuck happened with J-Swift.
Fatlip's starting to look like the normal one from that group.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 28 July 2006 21:46 (nineteen years ago)

What th'fuck happened with J-Swift.
