"Watery, Domestic". Like that Liars one, they just drew on another band's cover. Anyone remember who's album cover this was originally? I saw it in a used vinyl record store years ago but can't recall the artist.

It also sounds like Mike Ink had sampled all those artists, though I'm not sure about it.

Isn't the cover of Beck's Stereopathetic Soul Manure a portion of some other album cover?

Beta Band's first album is a fucked up version of Jimmy Shand record - on the inside cover you can see the original album cover in a room with a whole lotta other junk.

Yeah, I didn't quite get that either.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 26 July 2004 16:09 (twenty-one years ago)

there's a fabs pic on there isn't there?

piscesboy, Monday, 26 July 2004 16:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Chris just informed me that if you look hard at the cover, the four Beatles' heads are hidden in the artwork. I can find two on my CD copy, and apparently you can easily find all four if you have the larger vinyl artwork.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 26 July 2004 16:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Are the Beatle heads from the cover of a Beatles album? If not, then I nominate Sgt. Pepper for using that picture of Bob Dylan.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Monday, 26 July 2004 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I have the original flashback cover, and I can hardly make out the Stones' faces on it.

I'm too scared to attempt the new picture posting method, so I'm just gonna say the [Artificial Intelligence] compilation, with Dark Side of the Moon and Autobaun and something else I'm forgetting on the cover.

If anyone is reading this thread and still wondering what the Pavement cover is based on, it's an old self-titled Ambergris record. hth

Tom Violence, Wednesday, 4 January 2017 01:14 (nine years ago)

Back to my 12-year-old post, found a picture (Slaughter Joe - All Around My Hobby Horse's Head). The one at the far right is Opal (happy nightmare baby?), Sonic Youth's Bad Moon Rising is in there too, and I can identify 2-3 more if I had a full sized pic. I hadn't heard of him before, but I bought it based on the cover, and that it was in the 37 cent bins. One of my best music/money purchases.

In the liner notes to the expanded King's Record Shop, they talk a little about how they inserted both Rosanne and the Seven-Year Ache cover into the pre-existing art photo in those dark days before PhotoShop.
