CDRs made in India, or, does the origin really matter?

I've always held it as common knowledge that CDRs manufactured in Japan were the highest quality. I usually avoid CDs from other places, esepcially Taiwan. I recently bought a 10 pack of Sonys that were made in India - I've never seen this before (or never noticed) - anyone have any experience, one way or another, with these? Does the country of origin really make a difference? And can someone remind me about the 'color guide' thing again (ie green = bad, blue = good, red = best, dark = bad, light = good, wtf?!?!?! i can't keep it straight)?

best for data archiving is gold reflective layer, phthalocyanine dye. silver reflective layer/phthalocyanine dye is a bit better for audio CDs because the higher reflectivity of silver vs. gold helps the disc play in old cd players and car stereos, etc.

don't know what kind of reputation india has for CDR quality. but yes, origin matters. different manufacturing standards and quality control.

mtv choose or lose did a segment on indian call centers, they did a nice job of making them out to be bogeymen but they didn't happen to mention the US has a net gain from "out-sourcing". it was a pretty sinister piece actually. I had two indian kids in my recent climbing class, they were great and one of the kids learned all of my knots in five minutes.
