So, my friend left me his turntables for the night... how do I work these fangled things?

He was driving to a concert and didn't want them rattling around in his trunk, so he told me I could just mess around with them for the night. The turntables are Stantons and the mixer is, as far as I can tell a "Numark 2002x pro master mix." Ive never used one of these things in my life, but I am pretty sure I just figured out how to hook up the turn tables to the mixer (I put them into phono aux 2 and phono aux 3.) It's working, but maybe there's something I'm doing wrong? Or it can work better or something? I have my little brother's records at my disposal, they are:

Todd Rundgren - Something/anything
The Fall - Grotesque after the gramme
Electric light orchestra - out of the blue
White stripes - De Stijl
Talking heads - more songs about buildings and food
Sergio mendez and Brasil 66 - greatest hits
Neil Young - Hawks and doves
Kitchens of distinction - elephantine EP
Psychedlic furs - interchords
Ramones - Road to ruin
Velvet underground - white light/white heat
The cars (first album)
The kinks - misfits
Johnny Cash - Live at San quentin
The texas instruments - Sun Tunnels
The monkees - headquarters

And if I go upstairs there's my parents records, some Beatles, KISS, REO Speedwagon, Kenny Loggins... etc.

Ive been messing around sort of, playing New Face in Hell as I scratch Rundgren, sounded kind of cool. I dont really know how to work it. I dont know what the "transform" button does, or the "x control" switch but I hope it involves Optimus Prime.

So, what should I do? What can I do? Can I make drum beats or melodies? Im having a hard time getting it to repeat anything I want. Advice?

Well, that's obvious! You take the drum intro to Thank You For Sending Me An Angel (first track on the Talking Heads LP) and play some Johnny Cash on top.

Whoa, great advice. I just did it and it was awesome. I had the drum beat going and was mixing the sounds of Cash talking about hitting some guy in the teeth with a chair and the crowd going crazy. I think I can record it and put it in mp3 format if youd like.

Awesome. Do it!!! I'll take the co-production credit, of course (not really).

(So what exactly does the "transform" button do?)

Hell if I know. Theres a mic jack and I tried putting my keyboard into it, but it didnt work. I bet it will if I knew how to get the mic to work. I also ran the output through a synth wah pedal and put it in this equalizer I found in my basement so I can make all the bass go up on one side which Im finding really helpful. If only I can get the keyboard in, I can finally make completely Wolf Eyesian music.
