1. I'm really into the second Stephen & The Farm Band record. Is the first one worth checking out?

2. Does anyone know anything about Feather Da Gamba beyond the Forced Exposure description?

anyone sharing the third Man album on slsk? It's obviously impossible to search

i can answer neither of your questions, roger, so i'll ask you one: what is that farm band album like? i have this (easily broken) rule against spending more than $20 on things i know nothing about, especially on vinyl, so i'm wondering how in/accurate the "communal psychedelic blues jams, like the grateful dead!" claims are.

well, to me, nothing sounds like The Dead, so scratch that. On the plus side, the Jethro Tull comparisons are also way off - i mean, there's flute, but, that's the extent of it. The Farm band are pretty unpretentious.

I've really been enjoying the Up In Your Thing album - some really nice stuff - download "Hey Beatnik!" if you can, that sums it up nicely - the harmony vox vaguely remind me of Crazy Horse for some reason. Overall, the songs and playing are pretty top notch, especially for hit and miss Akarma.

worth $20 if you're in that kinda mood.

The only Void reissues I have are Michaelangelo and Brazda Brothers. I like both and would definitely recommend the former.

Actually, the Michaelangelo album on Void is outtakes, not a reissue. Sure would like to hear the whole original album.

one month passes...
Anyone getting any/know any of these?

tim, it's after the fact but i've got the vinegar album. not really worth the $20+ probably, second-string krautrock sort of like a less morose paternoster maybe. sounds like they only really had 2 or 3 songs written when they went into the studio and just jammed out the rest. girl sings on one and sounds like an even more untrained renate knaup. i like it but i'm a total mark.

anyone know anything about these?

rick saucedo - heaven was blue
prentice and tuttle - every loving day
joseph - stoned age man
tom lucas - red letter day
mcdonald and sherby - catharsis

Is there a thread for obscure questions about 70's french-canadian art-rock? cuz i would like to know more about the band aut'chose, but something tells me ilm won't be much help.

scott seward (scott seward), Monday, 12 September 2005 10:04 (twenty years ago)

there's plenty of information about aut'chose out there.

you just need to speak french.
