I found a copy of this today! The used CD store had two copies of it for 8 bucks each.

I kind of like "Revolution Summer" but we're definitely moving into John Spencer The Blues Man territory on this one.

Classic, if only because I've spent too much time going through used record stores causing me to appreciate the artwork that much more (BTW, it seems wrong to buy this on CD).

Yeah, when I first heard it I was surprised how similar it was to the Caroline LP the JSBX released.

I like "Mono! Man" and "Drop Dead" in addition to the 2 tracks mentioned.

I think Spencer is funnier on this album than he is in the Blues Explosion (though I haven't followed their whole series of albums, so I guess I don't know for sure). The whole album is great. "Dedication" is great. "Song at the End of the Side" is great. "Revolution Summer" is great. (Are there any Blues Explosion songs better than it?). "Crawfish" is great. "Don't Jones Me" is possibly the most ferocious thing Hagerty has ever done. His "Little Red Rooster" is awesome. "(Do) the Snake" is great.

With just the three-piece lineup, you really get a sense of each person's contribution to this thing. It's as much a Bob Bert album and a Neil Hagerty album as it is a Jon Spencer album. (Note also that a lot of the songs are co-written by all three guys.) My favorite album from 1990, I think no question about it.

Maybe I'm overstating with the "Bob Bert album" thing, but it's definitely the most Hag-ified PG record.

Revolution Summer is my favorite song on that album, but if you like that then "Extra Width" should provide kicks...You don't have that one?

btw, the title and the cover artwork are a direct reference to a rock music collection that came out on a weekly basis in spain in the seventies. you could buy lp's at the bookstore by the likes of bob dylan, the doors, alice cooper, deep purple and the like.
cristina martinez is spanish, maybe that's why.

there is a Historia de la Musica Rock for the Velvet Underground, and you can find this series with ease in the US btw.
