Hip-hop songs censored even on "explicit" CD version

This is usually done for the singles - even on the album version, I suppose to make them radio ready. Sometimes also done when something is deemed too offensive for even an album track by the label or whatever, e.g. Notorious BIG's "Gimme the Loot" ("I wouldn't give a fuck if ya *scrambled*/give me the baby rings/and the number one mom pendant)
It always cracks me up when I hear a "motherfucker" followed by a "sdkjfhsafh".

Let's make a list.

BDP "My Philosophy" "Before somebody says don't *beep* with Kris"
Wu-Tang Clan "Protect Ya Neck" (all cusswords replaced with a guitar hit)
lots of Missy Elliott for no apparent reason esp. on "Miss E...So Addictive"
your turn.

Kanye - "School Spirit" (a very mysterious bleeping)

Symplistic (shmuel), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 00:23 (twenty-one years ago)

The Doors - "The End" (tho it isn't hip-hop)

On my copy of "Miss e...So Addictive" all of Missy's fucks are blanked out, but everyone else's are left in. I can't fathom it.

El-P censored only the word 'faggot' on his last album - all the 'fucks' remained intact - political correctness runs amok yet again - and in the darndest places, too!

Mine too, that's what I was referring to. Maybe she was on a religious kick and requested her swears to be removed?

It's also strange how the single version of "Get Ur Freak On", the line 'who's that bitch?' is changed to 'is that your chick?'. 'Bitch' hardly being a rude word these days.

GZA - "Knock Knock"

Eminem's "I'm Back"

I take seven kids from [Columbine] and stand 'em all in line
Add an AK-47, a revolver, a nine
A Mac-11 and this oughtta solve this problem of mine
And that's a whole school of bullies shot up all of the time

In the song World Class Sex Rhymes by Mr Robert J. Ritchie and Calvin Broadus, Esq., can you guess which word is censored from the following sequence?

"Kid Rock motherfucker, yo I ain't no fag
I fuck bitches dry, I fuck em on the rag
Tag their toes, check em off my list
Hos get fucked: they don't get kissed
A simplistic pimp gettin much respect
I'll fuck your mouth and leave your ass in debt"

If it helps, nothing is censored in any of the following lines on the track:

"Remove your shirt, show me them titties
I'll drive my dick right through your twin cities"

"There ain't nothing like black pussy on my dick
Word to your mama and your sister bitch
I play hos like a mother fucking football game
I pull my dick out and you'll say it's good y'all came"

"I've fucked so many hoes I can't remember their name
But it ain't about that
Bitch I really doubt that
Just turn the lights out and put my dick where yo mouth at"

"Smokin' it up in too many different places
Bustin' a nut in too many bitches' faces"

I'm guessing either "kid rock" or "on the rag" but I haven't heard it.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 04:11 (twenty-one years ago)

"fag", not even being used as an epithet or insult, is again the only offensive word in that song.

kit brash (kit brash), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 06:20 (twenty-one years ago)

that's soooo weird. I wonder if the next Eminem will be like that. hahah

AaronHz (AaronHz), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 06:32 (twenty-one years ago)

the "blow up like the World Trade" line being censored on Big's "Juicy" (and Jay-Z's "A Dream") after 9/11.

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 07:23 (twenty-one years ago)

It still says "time to get paid/blow up like the world trade" on the copy of Ready to Die I bought last year. Did they alter newer pressings or was this just on the radio?

Re: Missy Elliot's "Miss E...", on the versh I have (UK), only some of Missy's swearing is censored!!!! In a couple of tunes, you have Missy getting bleeped in one channel whilst swearing like a fishwife in another!!!!!!!!
