common_person (common_person), Tuesday, 27 July 2004 20:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Peter: If you search the archives for Racebannon you will probably find several instances of my calling them "The Best Band in the World", which I will always stand by. A lot of people consider them a hardcore band - and they're not like anything else on my list, definitely - but they're really just a very abrasive rock band with sheets of noise on top. You should check them out, and if you don't dig them, check out Rapider Than Horsepower, a more accessible/less noisy sideproject of the singer & bassplayer.

"peepee how was LA trip"

Days 1 and 2 - hiked in the mountains (hills?) north of Malibu, and attempted to relax on the frickinfreezin beach.
Days 3 through 8 - while my wife worked, I checked out Amoeba (good, but I expected more, still prefer the one in Berkeley), Aron's (deceivingly good, great but tiny used section) and another one in Silverlake(?)which was tres disappointing. Wandered around Hollywood (that's where we stayed), and thought I was in Niagara Falls...tried to nab pickpockets on Hollywood Blvd (my wife got her wallet taken from her purse at noon during a previous visit in May...saw Mum at the ElRayo (is that the name?) and didn't have to get sandblasted before going to bed because NO SMOKING!!!...dealt with three traffic jams, two cause by gawkers...tar pits...no Museum of Jurasic Tech... amazed that 94.76% of all billboards were either about a movie or tvshow...fab Body Works exhibit at the Science Center...lounged by the hotel pool one afternoon, hearing some Ryan Seacliff guy tape a tvshow with American Idol robots a hundred feet away and thinking it was some of the best comedy ever heard while lounging by a pool...then seeing said show later in the afternoon on tv and IT WAS WORSE!...all in all I don't think that there'd be anything to make me wanna go back
(Although I have to say that all the suggestions ILMers sent went for naught because the board was shut down before I could print them!)
