I think this comes out pretty soon; I found a promo copy in the used bin and picked it up. Colorful cover artwork of a collage with a fetuses and stuff on it.
I know this band is a touchy one for ILM -- probably more haters than defenders -- and I wonder if this album will change anything, because it's so different than the others in many ways.

There's some unbelievably catchy tunes, but it's pretty goofy considering their goth-y image:
"Erection" seems to be a tribute to boners, as far as I can tell...
In "Desperate Guys" ("I was looking indifferent at the merch booth putting on make up...") they kind of make fun of themselves.

There's also more real instruments -- some of the mixing of guitars and synths is pretty cool, and there's some real strings on some of the fast songs that sound very different.
Anyways, I know most people around here dislike this band immensely, but I thought I would start a thread for the few who are interested...

I'm definitely looking forward to hearing this, though I always prefer their fast, danceable songs to their ballads. Is it a relatively short album? I liked that about the last two.

I don't have it in front of me, but it's 10 tracks - 35 minutes maybe. Very tight. Oh, also, those ladies from Azure Ray do backing vocals on one track called "Southern Belles in London Sing" and it's really pretty.

Hmm....a tribute to boners will be welcomed in the He1geson household!

I used to really like them. I saw them at the rehearsal space in Indianapolis in front of a really small crowd and they totally blew everyone away. Then they did that awful remix record - unlistenable except for the (GREAT) Thin White Duke mix - and TOURED BEHIND IT. I saw them in Chicago in a crowd full of assholes, and they were pompous and annoying and empty and I can't stand them ever since. Still, I like a lot of the second album and would like to hear this if it's a return to punkier stuff.

Obviously the title is great. I always thought their sense of humor was overlooked

inexplicably, when forced to sit through blank wave arcade, there were bits of it that I enjoyed very much. it was like the dirtiest record duran duran ever made.

Oh wow, is this insufferable. And I actually thought their last album had some redeeming qualities.

first track "desperate guys" totally makes me like the Faint all of a sudden. dopest lead-off song in a long time.

this is total shit.

I dunno, they're playing with TV On The Radio this Sunday. I'm thinking of going, so I just grabbed a few tracks online. "Agenda Suicide" is quite good.

I would see them live, I just would advise against purchasing this new one ("Agenda Suicide" is from their very good previous album Danse Macabre, which I recommend!)

Chaki's dream double-bill for his birthday!

I'm enjoying it! Opening track sounds like a Camper Van Beethoven dance remix!
