...and more importantly, Search and Destroy. I've slacked too long on this.

One thing, though - I was leafing thru the Galactic Zoo book and there was a section on "cult / communal bands" and lumped in with Yahowah and Amon Duul was Magical Power Mako - isn't it just one dude?

Magical Power is a one man-project.
His first two albums are excellent - they've just been reissued and you can find them through Forced Exposure. Kind of krautrock with some Eastern touches and tongue firmly placed in cheek. Keiji Haino guests as vocalist in a song. The overall effect is naive, childish and undeniably charming. He was very young at the time - 18 or 19 year old.
I love also _Music from Heaven_, it falls somewhere between acoustic Faust and delicious lo-fi pop - of course without the pretentious lo-fi aesthetics.

The Hapmoniym box is pretty good, too. It's a frustrating listen, though, as each cd in the set consists of one track comprised of edits of a wide variety of weirdness. Some of it I like a lot, some of it not as much, but you can't find the songs you like due to the unfortunate organization of the material. I don't listen to it that often, and can never remember which disk has what on it. I guess it's his Faust TAPES love on display.
Super Record is classic, mellow, eastern psych.

Thanks everyone, I downloaded Super Record after reading this and it's awesome! Not only psych-folk, 'space exploration' reminiscent of eg. Cluster also springs to mind. The overall sound is amazing as well, it doesn't sound like it's from '75. Great find.
