Mega City Four, classic or dud?

The last ever indie band? A 'fraggle' outfit? My elder brother LOVED them, and actually got to know them quite well. I remember doing the NME crossword with the bassist before a gig in Exeter when I was 15 (he had a Public Enemy hat on, which impressed me no end). Wiz actually had quite a way with a melody, even if he never washed his hair. At one point it seemed as if all my brother's friends wore MC4 t-shirts all the time.

Inspired by Mark C, oddly enough.

Dud. Never liked'em. Tried. Failed. I'll stick with the Wonder Stuff, PWEI and Ned's Atomic Dustbin when I need that sort've thing.

'Miles Apart' was OK and 'Awkward Kid' were great. They went a bit shit later and their hair always put me off.

What Alex in NYC said. I even preferred Senseless Things.

They were v. friendly at least; we used to gig with them & they appeared on a compilation album we released (Airspace charity comp.). Having said this, I think every band in the UK at the time gigged with them as they were never off the road.
