Songs by Morrissey, Thurston Moore, Calexico, Bono, Jarvis Cocker and, um, Pete Yorn and more. Most appear on the record as well.

I suppose it's nice she's open to such things.

Or is it?

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 28 July 2004 17:10 (twenty-one years ago)

oh fuck yeah, it's gonna rule, Nancy's the queen

despite the inclusion of Bono and Yorn

I just hope Jack White isn't going to be on it

Didn't see anything about Jack White (which is good).

anybody know if the nancy & lee album got scrapped? hazlewood sounded so
enthusiastic about it... something like, 'it sounds like twelve versions of "some
velvet morning"... and anyway, i'd definitely be curious to hear this new one,
but i suspect the intention all along was not to have a great new nancy album
but to lure in collector dorks... worked on me... nancy and thurston sounds
pretty cool.

"Nancy and Lee 3" was released this year, no? Shows up on ebay a bunch. Haven't heard much about it.

one way ticket to the cutout bins

amateur!st (amateurist), Wednesday, 28 July 2004 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

funny, since people are paying through the nose for it now on ebay

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Wednesday, 28 July 2004 17:42 (twenty-one years ago)

such is the fate of novelty records

amateur!st (amateurist), Wednesday, 28 July 2004 17:43 (twenty-one years ago)

huh.... came and went i guess... odd...

firstworldman (firstworldman), Wednesday, 28 July 2004 17:53 (twenty-one years ago)

amazon only lists it as an import which means dubiously distributed bootleg, to me.

a Nancy & Morrissey duet would be pretty good. Or he should do a version of Friday's Child - "...Born a little ugly / Good looks passed her by..etc"

Who is the Lee Hazlewood of the '00s?

I like it. Good cover of Kasey Chamber's "Barricades and Brick Walls"...

Who is the Lee Hazlewood of the '00s?

Chris Eckman. (I'm not really kidding either, but admittedly there's less of the perv about him.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 30 July 2004 01:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Jamie Cullem should so do a version of "Some Velvet hey Morning"

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 30 July 2004 09:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I've heard the Calexico song, it's awesome!

Brian Turner (btwfmu), Friday, 30 July 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

If this was a Frank Jr album then it'd be even more interesting, especially if he did the vocals while locked in a trunk.

dave q, Friday, 30 July 2004 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

they've had a few copies of Nancy & Lee 3 at amoeba but they're always 20$. i didn't realize it was a current album? was there a Nancy & Lee 2? i just listened to the first on yesterday

JaXoN (JasonD), Friday, 30 July 2004 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

there was a second N&L record in the 70s, i believe. some tracks for it are on that rhino cd.

amateur!st (amateurist), Friday, 30 July 2004 15:46 (twenty-one years ago)

This would be a great time to repeat myself ONCE AGAIN about how remiss Rhino are for keeping the first 2 Nancy & Lee albums out of print. There's a copy on Ebay every week going for at least $40.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Friday, 30 July 2004 16:25 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe rhino no longer has the rights?
