What's this band? I saw a record by them amongst 3$ records being sold in the streets of NY. It looked sort of like noise as it had a homemade cover and I think I've heard of them. Should I have bought it? I bought Pretty Boy Floyd instead.

there's a good thread on them somewhere

a lot of folks (Scott Seward especially) swear by their second album, The Moray Eels Eat The Spaceneedle, but I prefer the first one, Voyager. It's noisy, creative lo-fi pop, and they were the best Zero Hour band for a long, long time.

Easily worth $3

Yes, I prefer the first one too. Awesome spacey pop music.

Let's back up here, gentlemen -- I agree that Space Needle has much goodness, but more importantly he chose Pretty Boy Floyd, creator of THEE ULTIMATE GENERIC/OBVIOUS/BRILLIANT hair metal album ever Leather Boyz With Electric Toyz. I proclaim Daniel a genius.

Daniel, here is the recent thread I started cuzza my love for the second album. There are definitely fanz here on ILM:

they were the best Zero Hour band for a long, long time.

which is kind of like being the best player on the montreal expos.

on second thought, that's not really fair to the expos.

six years pass...

so Anders Parker of Space Needle and Varnaline put out an album of ambient guitar instrumentals and a double album of electronic pop this year? I just found out about this but they're all streamable on his website and it all sounds pretty good!

Nice! Thanks for the tip there.

dang, "easy" off of skyscraper crow is really nice.

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 8 December 2010 15:52 (fifteen years ago)

ok just to clarify, skyscraper crow is a double album, with the first part being electronic pop and the second part being acoustic fingerpicking songs. i prefer "skyscraper," "crow" is too elliot smith-y for my tastes.
