maybe itll be more fun just to browse, but feel free to rave about your newest lost-psychedelic-classic/experimental-noise/breezy-pop/50s-60s-70s-80-90s-00s-idiosyncrasy/dense-jazz-masterpiece/really-anything-loud-or-psychedelic-or-weird-or-jarring.

I just listened to that Turkish psych comp that came out on Dionysus in 2001 again recently (Hava Narghile: Turkish Rock Music 1966 to 1975). It's great.

on the classical / psychedelic noise tip, the LA Ameoba has a particularly good selection of the Iancu Dumitrescu records. get one of these three: http://www.forcedexposure.com/artists/dumitrescu.iancu.html

Goran Bregovic - Songs and Tales from Weddings and Funerals, with mp3 samples.

album from the composer of the soundtrack to the film Underground. the tales are maybe precious, but the songs are incredible.

is it better than some of the other international-psych comps?

sometimes i find those to be really promising, and have like 3 good songs, but not really be interesting in any way beyond nuggets 2, which i totally love. this one is particularly good, you say?

I have a friend who didn't like it, actually. If you're into Yardbirds-like guitar stuff, though, it's amazing.

those bregovic songs do sound pretty cool.

like the kind of stuff the count 5 ripped off for "psychotic reaction"?

Tied + Tickled Trio - Observing Systems. Not jarring, more of a recent blend of egoless jazz with hot beats.

Like "Over Under Sideways Down" and stuff. Walking bass parts like in "Lost Woman."

i'll vouch for the turkish psych comp! some of that shit is really insane.
