I'll be interested to hear what you think. I really like what Pinback I've heard.

eddie hurt (ddduncan), Friday, 30 July 2004 02:39 (twenty-one years ago)

What's it called?

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 30 July 2004 02:56 (twenty-one years ago)

summer in abaddon.

cutty (mcutt), Friday, 30 July 2004 04:01 (twenty-one years ago)

it's not very good.

Sean M (Sean M), Friday, 30 July 2004 04:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Does anyone know when the official release date is? I'd go to the Touch & Go website, if they had one...

darin, Friday, 30 July 2004 15:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Not very good in what way? I've really been looking forward to hearing it

jedidiah (jedidiah), Friday, 30 July 2004 17:23 (twenty-one years ago)

is it their Ghost in the Machine or their Synchronicity?

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 30 July 2004 17:45 (twenty-one years ago)

is it their Parklife or their self-titled?

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 30 July 2004 20:14 (twenty-one years ago)

although i have only listened to it thru once, and although i have a hunch that it will be a 'grower' on me, i wasn't impressed/blown away like i was upon each listen of their previous full-lengths. it just seems to drag ... it doesn't have the excitement of BSL nor the songs of the s/t album. i will allow it to grow on me but we'll see ... was def. expecting something more.

According to Touch & Go's website, Oct 12. They even have an MP3 up.

Vic Funk, Saturday, 31 July 2004 11:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, the MP3 on the site is really nice. I like how the drums are a little higher in the mix than older stuff, and how the chorus sounds really full. Now I'm looking forward to the new album more.

Vinnie (vprabhu), Saturday, 31 July 2004 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I just played that mp3 ("Fortress") three times in a row. Yum!!

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 2 August 2004 20:29 (twenty-one years ago)

This album grew on me slowly -- I kept coming back to the first track and then letting it play a little longer each time. There are a few songs I skip over in the first half -- 'Fortress'-- but the last four are really delicious.

57 7th (calstars), Monday, 9 August 2004 22:23 (twenty-one years ago)

OK it has officially grown on me. This album is brilliant.

tk, Monday, 16 August 2004 21:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyone going to see them in NYC in October?

57 7th (calstars), Thursday, 26 August 2004 13:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Not me but by semi-coincedence I'm listening to Thingy right this second.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 26 August 2004 13:20 (twenty-one years ago)

chaki, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 18:52 (eighteen years ago)

Must hear.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 18:54 (eighteen years ago)

Not all that thrilled with the cover art by the guy who brought us Goblin Cock.

kingkongvsgodzilla, Thursday, 21 June 2007 12:21 (eighteen years ago)

not out 'til september, argh

I guess I will have to content myself with buying that rarities comp that I forgot about

bernard snowy, Thursday, 21 June 2007 15:36 (eighteen years ago)

I am Robocop, Saturday, 23 June 2007 20:22 (eighteen years ago)

Not as immediately great to my ears as Summer, but still very good. A couple of really nice moments in 'Barnes,' and the last couple of tracks.

calstars, Saturday, 23 June 2007 21:47 (eighteen years ago)

three months pass...

Rob Crow is a hero to be for saying this from the stage at their Times Sq show (per SFJ's New Yorker blog -- at least that clusterfk thread was good for something):

"I don’t usually say stuff like this, but could you fucking hippies go smoke pot at the Sweat Lodge and listen to the Grateful Dead or something? It’s like pot smoke everywhere around me. Please—get as high as you want. Just don’t do it to me."

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 17 October 2007 15:04 (eighteen years ago)

I don't know whether I'd be flattered or insulted by people smoking pot while I played live...

I mean, I know music can be pretty cool to listen to while stoned, but do you have to be stoned to enjoy my music, or would you have trouble sitting still to it otherwise?

Or should I be happy that you're at my show smoking your stash to my music, but sad for you that you're the kind of person that's always trying to make a good thing better?

rockapads, Wednesday, 17 October 2007 23:19 (eighteen years ago)

I saw them in SF a few years ago and I remember him bitching about the pot smoke, so dunno about "I don’t usually say stuff like this."

iatee, Wednesday, 17 October 2007 23:29 (eighteen years ago)

whatta fucking pussy. walter becker last summer "awwww the sweet smell of kush in the evening."

chaki, Wednesday, 17 October 2007 23:30 (eighteen years ago)

Autumn doesn't have a lick on Summer. And the art brings it down further. .

calstars, Thursday, 18 October 2007 02:09 (eighteen years ago)

I have to say, I can't think of too many albums less stony than "Autumn". You could use Pinback's music to score a TV show about students at a Christian college.

rockapads, Thursday, 18 October 2007 18:37 (eighteen years ago)

i just lost all respect for that fat fuck

cutty, Thursday, 18 October 2007 19:32 (eighteen years ago)

i agree

I went through a phase a few months ago when I just had Loro on repeat all the time
