dickvandyke (dickvandyke), Friday, 30 July 2004 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

The Wire can sometimes look good.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 30 July 2004 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)

i'd say the following look good:

the wire, jockey slut, the wire, vice, spin... i dont mind the NME that much. Q is ok. but the last two tend to look a bit gross a lot of the time.

as far as mags that also cover music quite a bit, i liked sleaze a lot, and dazed is pretty decent.

thesplooge (thesplooge), Friday, 30 July 2004 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

the wire looks double good? ;)

autovac (autovac), Friday, 30 July 2004 18:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Looks good or has good writing? There are a number of magazines that are pretty but few with content to match. And what the fuck is with every magazine that isn't strictly music having 20-page fashion spreads in every damn issue and it's always the same shit?

That said, The Wire looks nice now, and xlr8 has some good layouts (still debating old vs. new design, though).

mike h. (mike h.), Friday, 30 July 2004 18:33 (twenty-one years ago)

another vote for The Wire. The best looking mag on the shelves. stunning covers in the last year or so.

seanp (seanp), Friday, 30 July 2004 19:49 (twenty-one years ago)

NME used to look good, in a lo-fi sort of way. As in:

Collardio Gelatinous (collardio), Friday, 30 July 2004 19:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Mojo can be quite elegant.

Rickey Wright (Rrrickey), Friday, 30 July 2004 22:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Friday, 30 July 2004 22:20 (twenty-one years ago)

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 30 July 2004 23:19 (twenty-one years ago)

The Wire does look good, but well designed music magazines always seem to look somewhat... sterile.

stevie (stevie), Sunday, 1 August 2004 20:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Well Salvador, the only point of fashion spreads in music magazines is to scoop up some ad dollars. i don't think our readers need me to tell them what hoodie or pair of sneaks is going to be hot for that next squarepusher gig they go to. so if not wanting to waste editorial pages on that crap makes me an essentialist, so be it.

seanp (seanp), Sunday, 1 August 2004 20:23 (twenty-one years ago)

LLSS does look great. i will read it too, one day.
