who would your Fantasy Fabric mix CDs be by?

1. Hatcha ft. Crazy D
2. Kode 9 and Daddie Gee v Digital Mystikz
3. Domu
4. Theo Parrish
5. Marcus Intalex v Calibre
6. Target ft Roll Deep MCs
7. Pharoah Saunders
8. Dizzee Rascal
9. Timbaland
10. Benji B

... are some random ones (many wildly unrealistic) that spring to mind.

martin (martin), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 09:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Domu would be cool actually, I've never seen him play but like the stuff. Particularly his that Domu's Fat Ass Whoopin' mix of whatever track that was.

others.

1. Thomas Bangalter or DJ Falcon or both (and yeah every other Crydamoure and Roulé artist, there that's out of my system)

I can't think of many others offhand, well I can but if I say Carl Craig or Alexander Robotnick it's sort of silly cos they've done recent enough mixes for other franchises.

Wait.

2. Green Velvet/Cajmere

siegbran seconded - and mix_ii too!

i know it won't be, but i'd love the up and coming weatherall one to be non-dance based - preferably a vintage dub mix. Has he released a dub mix before?

Ellen Allien (and a hearty second for Phoenix)

Conor (Conor), Wednesday, 4 August 2004 09:48 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks etienne!! i got those mixtapes as mp3s actually - they are called "demolition tapes" right?? they are KILLER.

i particularly recommend "rock da house 2002 style part I" and "booty track ass pimp". the tracklistings are on the daftcrew website somewhere in the (searchable) forums. the booty mix is probably the best ghettostyle mixtape i've ever heard, up there with DJ TLR's "freestylin at the funny farm" from the hague's globaldarkness website.

i haven't really gotten into the hip-hop or jungle or roots mixes yet even though the roots mixes have the best titles ever: "side A, jess barbleton fox - NOBODY MOVE NOBODY GET HURT" and "side B, dupa troopa crabbe2badd - PUFF UP IN SMOKE".

vahid (vahid), Wednesday, 4 August 2004 20:33 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm sure you know this but there are i:cube mixtapes online at tigersushi, but they are a bitch to download. streambox works with their server but the bandwidth is really tight.

there are also some great i:cube and (especially) gilb'r mixes at www.d-i-r-t-y.com that are way easier to stream.

vahid (vahid), Wednesday, 4 August 2004 20:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Vahid you seem to know the score about the parisian underground! I wasn't so keen on "Rok da house 2002", a bit too pushy for me. They should do a Relief-style mix, they got plenty of this stuff but they never play it. An early house mix would also be nice. They were playing 2-step back in the day (along with the Hometown crew/Rangers crew) but i don't know if they're into grime now.
