Kiss of Death for Collaborators' Careers

Can you think of any examples of artists who have had hits "featuring" someone or other when it actually led to the artist who was billed as "feat." going on to have a long and successful career subsequently? no doubt this *has* happened but, given that there is the opportunity for someone to be given a stepping stone by having this second billing, it is far more likely it seems that they disappear. Discuss.

I'm thinking of Jellybean in particular here. We never heard anything of Steven Dante, Adele Bartei or Eloisa Fiorillo after they had hits as the "featured" singer on Jellybean hits. Bertei's song with Jellybean "Just a Mirage" was brilliant, yet it did her no favours.

Seal wasn't actually billed as "featuring" tho, which made it a particular odd situation. The record was simply credited to Adamski. I think this made ppl go "well, who *is* that singer???" possibly knowing Adamski from his previous record "NRG" and the subsequent effects on the 2 ppl's careers are well documented.
