I think auctioning yourself off on ebay might be a bit of a giveaway there.

Those Professor X/X-Clan LPs are amazing. They were remaindered in Fopp; I picked up one ("To the East . ?") because of the wild packaging, then went back for three more. Played the hell out of them, and could never understand why they weren't better known.
Xodus is so fucking good. so was "why you doin that?" from the comeback album a few years back. I haven't done a top 10 favorite artists list since I was a kid but if I did X-clan would be on it because X-clan kicks ass OK.

John, who else would make up your ten if pressed? X-Clan, Darkthrone, Randy Newman...?

― amateurist, Tuesday, 18 August 2009 14:18 (sixteen years ago)
(I was going to make an in-poor-taste X-Men joke, but yes I knew he'd died)
― nate dogg is a feeling (HI DERE), Tuesday, 18 August 2009 14:22 (sixteen years ago)
Yeah this was one of three x-clan threads, all of which were consequent on professor x dying & this was the least bummer of the three, should have just made a new one, sorry.
They made a record this year, Mainstream Outlaw, which isn't as good as the previous comeback album, Return to Mecca but it's got a few great songs on it ("The Lord Spits" & "Through My Eyes").
On tour in Pittsburgh a couple of years ago I saw the store that Paradise the Architect runs - he has photographs & memorabilia from EARLY hip hop days, LL on stage at like 17 years old & the jacket LL was wearing back then hanging on the wall...mindblowing place. didn't look like it was doing brisk business so I'd be surprised if it was still around but for one late morning it was awesome to say "where'd you get all this stuff?" "oh I was in a crew back then called X Clan" "WHAAAAAT OH SHIT"
― Man Is Nairf! (J0hn D.), Tuesday, 18 August 2009 14:29 (sixteen years ago)
also Billy I try not to take threads in an "other shit I also like" direction because it annoys me when other ppl go "hey I know this thread is about Supertramp but you know who else was great is Link Wray" & shit
― Man Is Nairf! (J0hn D.), Tuesday, 18 August 2009 14:30 (sixteen years ago)
gonna start posting Supertramp videos now if that's cool with you
― nate dogg is a feeling (HI DERE), Tuesday, 18 August 2009 14:31 (sixteen years ago)

I think that one takes care of Supertramp's claim to superiority over X Clan, any other bands feel like fucking with X Clan let me know & I will produce more convincing Youtube links
― Man Is Nairf! (J0hn D.), Tuesday, 18 August 2009 14:39 (sixteen years ago)
Dark Sun Riders album Seeds of Evolution is a sci-fi concept album that just fucking rules with a mid-tempo smooth groove all through
