Does this CD that just came out contain the original Avengers EP? This first "American in Me" sounds like a studio recording to me.

Yeah, VH1.com, I know, but I discovered that for some reason they consistently have audio clips for artists that I can't find clips for elsewhere.

Never mind I think I answered my own question. It's not, but there are alternate studio takes, so I might get this. Comments from anyone whose heard it are still welcome though.

Jay Hinman recently wrote it up on his blog-

yeah, apparently it's not the original EP. Bummer.

I bought this and I can't say I consider it especially important. I basically just paid over $16 for a chance to hear "The American in Me" again (in a slightly different version than the one I knew). I should have soulseeked.

The one surprise is how similar the guitar playing is, at times, to that very traditional rock sound that Billy Zoom used to play (though whoever this guitarist is, I don't think he's as good).

seven years pass...

The "pink album", which was originally released by Steve Jones, has been given the deluxe treatment and an official release. Fantastic stuff! The bonus disc is just icing on the punk cake.

I count "The American in Me" as one of the greatest punk songs ever.
