get out your reissue of rumours. put on your headphones. turn the volume up loud. play "the chain." is that lindsey buckingham breathily whispering in your left ear before the music starts? and is he saying "fffuck"?

and more important, did everyone in the world except me already know this?

or are my eyes deceiving me?

actually those wouldn't be my eyes. those would be my ears. but you get the point.

Yes I asked him about that, and "fffuck" is indeed what LB says at the beginning of "The Chain."

fascinating. am i the last person to know about this?

I don't think it's been widely discussed.

On an FMac message board someone said about my Uncut reviews of the reissues: "I admire the guy's (i.e. my) enthusiasm but why does he have this big thing about death and suicide?"

Sometimes I think I really oughtn't to be allowed out of doors.

or maybe you should be getting outdoors a bit more often!

is this a cd-only "fffuck" or was it on the original LP too?

Nah, outdoors is overrated.

It is on the original vinyl but it was mixed up a little on CD for that "punk rock" effect.

I think I brought this up on another thread, (hits with questionable lyrics that routinely get past the censors) and I'd never heard or read anything else about it either.
Thanks for the confirmation, Marcello.

He also appears to be saying "fucked up" on the backing vox on "That's How We Do It in L.A."
