Is it any good?

Buy it! Can't cost you more than like $3 on half.com or something, can it? It's guitar-heavy.

Monetizing Eyeballs (diamond), Friday, 6 August 2004 03:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Yep!...probably his loudest LP since the Black Album.

Myonga Von Bontee (Myonga Von Bontee), Friday, 6 August 2004 05:32 (twenty-one years ago)

was black album loud?

some shit songs on here, like i rock therefore i am, BUT dinner with delores and had u are both classics. some heavy guitar work on it, some pretty ballads too (into the light and the song before or after it), but its obvious prince tossed it off before he went to lunch one morning. its still worth getting for the price it goes at though. and i really like the artwork.

if you like C&D, try and seek out the undertaker bootleg, its a rock trio album prince cut around the same time and includes honky tonk woman by the stones. its pretty great.

Yes, great guitar work. This should not be relegate to cut-out bins, it is top tier Prince work.

dancin' like a white girl
on disco dirty floors, I rock therefore I am, the cop's chuckle while watching in a private bedroom window--these are all highlights. And

Had U
Missed U
Called U
Found U
Begged U
Convinced U
Saw U
Held U
Kissed U
Fondled U
Tempt U
Undress U
Smelled U
Wanted U
Asked U
Thanked U
Minded U
Hurt U
Disappoint U
F* U
Had U

one year passes...
As of this morning
this is the best damn album

I kind of hate this album.

Dan (Full Disclosure) Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 12 May 2006 17:48 (nineteen years ago)

Matos likes this album a hell of a lot more than I do.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Friday, 12 May 2006 17:56 (nineteen years ago)

(I say "kind of" because I really like "Dinner With Dolores" and "Dig U Better Dead".)

Dan (But Neither Of Those Make Up For The Title Track) Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 12 May 2006 17:59 (nineteen years ago)

I bought this and Come a few weeks ago but haven't listened to either yet.

Zwan (miccio), Friday, 12 May 2006 18:08 (nineteen years ago)

I'd argue that "Dinner with Dolores" is the greatest Prince song ever lost on a shitty Prince album, narrowly besting "Alphabet St."

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Friday, 12 May 2006 18:14 (nineteen years ago)

"I Like It There" is GRATE. And his guitar sound was rarely as good afterwards as it was on this album. His guitar nowadays sounds as thin and boring as the weedy digital synths he's been using since Emancipation.

Jay Vee's Return (Manon_69), Friday, 12 May 2006 19:10 (nineteen years ago)

Come is seriously his most overlooked album. There is some FEROCIOUS material on it, starting with the title track but also "Pheremone", "Loose", "Papa" and "Letitgo".

Dan (Infinitely Better Album) Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 12 May 2006 19:20 (nineteen years ago)

What Dan said. Monstrously great album.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 12 May 2006 19:21 (nineteen years ago)

One of his worst ever albums. It wasn't until this year that Prince did finally regain his old self musically.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Saturday, 13 May 2006 01:32 (nineteen years ago)

I agree that "Come" wasn't too bad though. At least it was way better than the love symbol one.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Saturday, 13 May 2006 01:33 (nineteen years ago)

I haven't listened to Chaos and Disorder in years, but from what I remember, my initial impression was, "oh, this is the Prince album that Phish fans would like"... which isn't meant to be a diss, but it's true. It sounds like it was done to break a contract or something, but also not done to be specifically bad either... just kinda there, and all over there, and semi-disposable.

I need to listen to it again, though.

Did he lose it again before he released 3121 ? C'mon, Geir -- that new album is awful.

Jay Vee's Return (Manon_69), Saturday, 13 May 2006 02:05 (nineteen years ago)

I loved it at the time but I doubt I would now. Still, one of his weirdest, which is saying something.

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Saturday, 13 May 2006 03:33 (nineteen years ago)

DOQQUN (donut), Saturday, 13 May 2006 03:37 (nineteen years ago)

I honestly think "Introduce the carpet to something other than your knees," or whatever it is, is the worst lyric he's ever written.

Rickey Wright (Rrrickey), Saturday, 13 May 2006 04:21 (nineteen years ago)

hahahahahah.

That one is bad. But I think Prince has come up with worse lines occasionally for years.

DOQQUN (donut), Saturday, 13 May 2006 04:23 (nineteen years ago)

i like the first couple of songs on this albumits like prince does the stooges
