Axl "Puts the Dread in Dredlocks" Rose vs Ryan "Mr. Answering Machine" Adams....FITE!

Which has piddled away more of his miniscule talent?
Who's the bigger whiner?
Who deserves the harder smackdown?

LET ILM DECIDE!

Axl : was in some pretty cool music videos and even got to marry and subsequently mourn the death of Stephanie Seymour in one of them
Ryan : did not

Axl : sings on "Paradise City"
Ryan : did not

Axl : currently involved in a classic battle of wits with Kevin Shields over who will first (never?) release the long awaited follow-up to their successful November 1991 album.
Ryan : is not

Loser by a landslide : Ryan Adams

I'm tempted to follow Bruner's logic, but I would much rather be Ryan Adams than Axl Rose. I'd quite possibly rather be Ryan Adams than anybody aside from Josh Homme right now.

Why? Who is Ryan Adams currently fucking?

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Sunday, 8 August 2004 23:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Ryan Adams is currently defying all the laws of physics and fucking himself.

Gear! (Gear!), Sunday, 8 August 2004 23:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Ryan Adams doesn't belong on the same card with Axl Rose, much less in the same bout. Axl Rose is a bigger loser, but only because he had heights to fall from. He's been in an epic slow-motion tumble off a sun-god pyramid of rock'n'roll, whereas Ryan Adams just keeps stubbing his big dumb toe.

I dunno, the dude seems like he's got it made! He's allowed to be super-prolific, everybody pays attention to him, you're considered wild and crazy for the slightest thing, access to a lot of rock gear, his hair-line isn't receding. Lots of girls are paying attention. All kinds of cool stuff.

x-post

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 8 August 2004 23:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Ryan did have some heights to fall from though, no? Doesn't everyone love that old stuff he did with his band. Now they say everything he does isn't as good.

scott seward (scott seward), Sunday, 8 August 2004 23:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I've never heard any of the old stuff. Only the newer boring stuff.

scott seward (scott seward), Sunday, 8 August 2004 23:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Doesn't he go out with Parker Posey? Or is that someone else.

scott seward (scott seward), Sunday, 8 August 2004 23:35 (twenty-one years ago)

he does, at least last time I heard. I'm afraid I'd probably dump her if the proposed Freaky Friday body-swap happened.

No. Whiskeytown was never better than OK. Very middle-of-the-pack alt-country. And I say that as someone who actually likes a fair amount of alt-country.
