Of course, my two favorite bands in the whole world, Royal Trux and Drive By Truckers, release albums next month, but also psyched for the new Lamb of God, new Neil Michael Hagerty LP, and very curious about this reputed Oldham / Sweeney collaboration.

I was psyched for Dizzee and Devendra but after soulseeking I find them both mildly disappointing

You?

And I still haven't heard the new Phoenix yet. Is it out in stores? I'm kinda out of it when it comes to release dates.

scott seward (scott seward), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 02:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Blood Brothers - Crimes (likely to be my favorite album of the year)
Delgados - Universal Audio
new Spoon

The new Converge record is very good.

"R.U.L.E" by Ja Rule

Why?

djdee2005, Tuesday, 10 August 2004 05:53 (twenty-one years ago)

The Delgados record is very, very good.

Anticipating Annie with psycho-keenness.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 05:55 (twenty-one years ago)

At the risk of being a member of the Swygart claque, the Delgados record really IS very, very good indeed.

edward o (edwardo), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 07:24 (twenty-one years ago)

The Hrvatski / Greg Davis collaboration album.

The Hrvatski Kranky release.

The Greg Davis Kranky release.

Bjork, Medulla.

The possibly released in a few months new Fiona Apple.

Salvador Saca (Mr. Xolotl), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 07:28 (twenty-one years ago)

The "new" Phoenix album has been a staple of the MVE bargain basement for the last four months.

I am looking forward to there being no new releases; preferably a compulsory five-year ban on them. For the greater good, you understand.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 10 August 2004 07:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, also, the album I'm now inspired to compose which contains subliminal messages on how not to be a pompous asshole.

Salvador Saca (Mr. Xolotl), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 07:32 (twenty-one years ago)

When's that coming out then?

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 07:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Whats this about a new Greg Davis album?
Admittedly I didn't think much of his last, but Arbor still holds a place in my all time top 50

Looking forward to:
Radio Dept. Lesser Matters
Fiery Furnaces - Blueberry Boat (19 pounds in HMV - Bastards)
KG - Adieu A L'Electronique

actionjackson, Tuesday, 10 August 2004 08:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Hasn't Lesser Matters been out for quite a while?

edward o (edwardo), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 08:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmm, perhaps not. But "Why Won't You Talk About It?" has been hovering around for a while.

edward o (edwardo), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 08:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Think its been out a while elsewhere, but in England it comes out next Monday

actionjackson, Tuesday, 10 August 2004 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

eh, nothing really. 'showtime' is fantastic but i've already got it on a cd-r so not much to look forward to there. i suppose i'm mildly interested in hearing the m.i.a and le dustsucker albums. that new mystikal album has been promised for months, but now i think it might just be a hits compilation? the ll cool j/timbaland stuff could be good.

Any Levitation/Dark Star fans watch out for 'Dragons' new album, s'great.

mzui, Tuesday, 10 August 2004 17:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Who's in Dragons? I loved Levitation. Dark Star was sorta meh to these ears.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 18:15 (twenty-one years ago)

It's a band headed off by the Drummer, David Francolini. He's mixing the album at the moment.
I've heard a few tracks it's got a driving disco PIL/Joy Division feel w/ noisy, hissy Pere Ubu-ish keyboards.
Probably the first thing that will come out is a cover of The The's Heartland, which will be on a The The covers album, commissioned by Matt Johnson himself apparently.

mzui, Tuesday, 10 August 2004 18:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Isolee on Playhouse in early 2005, I believe.

Today Is The Day has been out a few weeks Roger. There was a bit of chat about it on that big metal thread... it seems to have been pretty poorly promoted, haven't heard it myself so can't comment.

Oh one more - ISIS in October, get in

"Clinic - Winchester Cathedral"

Oooh, hadn't heard about that one - you can put it on my list too?!

"radio 4"

I like Gotham plenty but I read a review that said this one's a bit of a disappointment - has anyone heard it who can confirm / deny?

Useful thread - we should keep this going / do it more often!

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 09:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Confirm re. new Radio 4 - they've gone the slicko disco route. The album sounds like INXS but without the ace singles of the latter. It's OK but a bit bloodless.

Nope 'cos mine hasn't been published yet.

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 11 August 2004 10:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Now would anyone like to tell me that the new Clinic or Interpol albums are rub too?
