"Isn't she lovely" by Stevie Wonder.

But I guess that only works if you know she's having a girl.

Bowie's "Kooks"

noodle vague (noodle vague), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 18:27 (twenty-one years ago)

well, the pic didn't work, but it's the title song from the "She's Having a Baby" soundtrack by Dave Wakleing. Oh, and I 2nd the Animal Collective tune... that one's awesome.

Softly Weeping at the Oki Dog (Ben Boyer), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 18:29 (twenty-one years ago)

salt 'n' pepa .... push it ?

d, Tuesday, 10 August 2004 19:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Ooooh....DON'T put "This Woman's Work" on this mix. For god's sake, listen to the lyrics. Obviously, something horrible has gone wrong with the protagonist's pregnancy. "OOOOH DARLIN', MAKE IT GO AWAY!", and talking about all the "things they never did". As beautiful a song as this is (it's a song that can conjure tears in me every damn time), do not under any circumstances play it to an expectant parent. Trust me on this one.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 23:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Ok, no "Woman's Work" then! Maybe PJ Harvey's "I Think I'm a Mother"? Oh, that's right it has to be HAPPY sounding...

Seb (Seb), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 01:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I heartily second "Kooks."

mullane st odd friendly bunch, Monday, 3 January 2005 10:56 (twenty-one years ago)

i would pick "baby's in the world" by pj desmet but i doubt you could find it, even on slsk.

"baby's on fire" is a great title but the content doesn't really fit. :-)
