Ok, so if you had to make, say, 3 CDRs of early nineties jungle what would you choose and why?

jess, Tuesday, 10 August 2004 17:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd like to nominate Chuck E's "Smokin' A Blunt", because it still plays in my head on a regular basis.

Gots to have Krome & Time "License" and DJ SS "Limb by Limb" re-mix.

Joseph Pot (STINKOR™), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 20:30 (twenty-one years ago)

6. Kemet Crew "The Fruit" or "The Seed" (but really ALL of Champion Jungle Sound is pretty essential)

"6. Kemet Crew "The Fruit" or "The Seed" (but really ALL of Champion Jungle Sound is pretty essential)

Yeah, it's on Parousia (and it's relatively findable.) There is also a crazy expanded Japanese 2 disc version of it called Jungle to Jungle which I have never seen anywhere, but which features a bunch of other Kemet tracks and remixes and blah blah.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 21:44 (twenty-one years ago)

kemet crew is remarc?

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 21:53 (twenty-one years ago)

No, but Remarc remixes two tracks on Champion Jungle Sound. Kemet Crew is basically Mark X and Family of Intelligence collaborating with a bunch of other folks (Remarc, Lewi, Brainkillers, etc.)

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 10 August 2004 22:02 (twenty-one years ago)

i went past the Kemet centre in Archway this morning, as the rain pissed down, and wondered if the Kemet crew were once based there...

ryan kuo (ryan kuo), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 19:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Can someone tell me the name of that tune that goes "fire!! come-ah to burn the place down"??? It was on the sold-in-Woolworths-advertised-on-tv complilation, Jungle Mania, I lost my tape of that years ago but for some reason that tune suddenly popped into my head today. Jungle Mania also had "RIP", we used to sing that in school all the time!

Prizna Featuring Demolition Man "Fire"

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 19:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I oscillate between Prizna / Demolition Man's "Fire" and "Unda me sensi" as the two greatest jungle tracks evah.

But I seem to remember ILM voted "Angels' Fell" some-time ago.

phil jones (interstar), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 21:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I vote for all No U Turn releases, early Panacea dubplates on Position Chrome, and Current Value's "Frequency Hunt." Gimme bleak, noirish, whip-cracking techstep any day.

GK/TSSR, Wednesday, 11 August 2004 21:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, it's on Parousia (and it's relatively findable.)

good to know, except I can't seem to find it. only the 12" version turns up on google.

Joseph Pot (STINKOR™), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 21:43 (twenty-one years ago)

E-mail me off board. I'm sure we can figure something out.

Joseph Pot (STINKOR™), Wednesday, 11 August 2004 22:21 (twenty-one years ago)

two weeks pass...
hey, i found kemet crew 'the seed' dumped in my front yard today, serious! wha? it's my grandkids story i'm telling ya!

nebbesh (nebbesh), Friday, 27 August 2004 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

two years pass...
3. Firefox - "The Warning"

have been loving this all over again recently. specifically the super soft "if you look inside your heart you shouldn't need to feel afraid"...

and the strange chuckle that comes after that from another voice is so completely charming.

blueski, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 14:28 (nineteen years ago)

i've always found something about this song incredibly eerie

strongohulkington, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 14:40 (nineteen years ago)

probably from wherever they nicked the synth effect from. some horror movie i can't remember?

strongohulkington, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 14:41 (nineteen years ago)

two years pass...

specifically the super soft "if you look inside your heart you shouldn't need to feel afraid"...

only just figured out that this must be a sample of Mariah Carey's 'Hero' - but the voice does sound different and not just because it's pitched down. awesome.

Hard House SugBanton (blueski), Sunday, 7 June 2009 00:00 (seventeen years ago)
