Roger Adultery is going bananas and will probably commit himself before he even MAKES it to his new house. Does anybody in NYC want any of this shit?

I'm at the end of my rope. I don't have time for a garage sale and this stuff is too big to put up on eBay. If anyone is in NYC on Friday and wants to buy any of this stuff, let me know and we'll pick a time to meet up. I have:

a 3/4 size cello that is in prety good shape, a good practice / beginner cello - bought for $400, yours for $50.

A Compaq Presario computer, with keyboard and speakers and in box. No monitor. Sold as is, I know nothing about it so please don't ask - you savvy geek types can use it for parts or something. Pretty sure it works. $30 gets you the whole shabeng, including box and manuals.

A skateboard - with griptape, etc, used once or twice when Wifey wanted to learn. I stenciled the "Satan" fish on the botton, otherwise the bottom is plain. I tried it out and it's definitely decent. $25.

3 keyboard stands - X wing style - $15 each or all three for $35

A heavy duty handtruck - totally saved my life a few times. Great for transporting record boxes. $25

A Hewlett Packard word processor w/ monitor (needs ink ribbon) - $20

A Proscan DVD player (no remote but otherwise in great shape) - $25

A random milk crate of indie CDs - some doubles, mostly totally obscure (even for ILM) - I can tell you that there's a Centro-Matic CD, a Bablicon CD, Flin Flon...just looking to get rid of it. A lot of them are sealed. There's probably well over 200 CDs - Mostly grade A crapola. $30 for the box

Two boxes of 7"s - same as above - doubles, locals, no-names - for the curious and frivolous only. Both boxes (about 200 7"s) - $20.

I also have a Hammond organ I'm looking to get rid of, but it won't fit in the car. Animation by Leslie, and comes equipped with an SS1 Sound Simulator. It's in decent shape - a few weird quirks but otherwise fine. You'll have to come out to Staten Island to pick it up, but it's yours for only $250. a STEAL!

IMPORTANT: This is a ONE TIME offer, as it will be my last time visiting the city for a while. There'll be a window of time in the afternoon to meet up. I'll also be at the Sonic Youth gig that night, so I'll be around late. You'll also get to meet noise queen Tovah O'Rourke, who'll be rollin' with me.

I need this money to move so don't get all 'bargain-y' with me - I will, however, give discounts for more than one item...

Let me know QUICK if you want any of this...

(sorry to use the board to sell crap etc etc)

More stuff:

24 issues of The Source dating from 1992-1996. From hip-hops' second golden age! Great covers featuring Snoop, Scarface, etc. Remember when this magazine was GOOD? the whole bunch for $10

A Neotopia R7100 SDSL Router - brand new, never used, in box with manuals, etc. I don't even know what this is. $25

A sealed KISS 500 piece jigsaw puzzle - Rock and Roll Over logo / cartoon. Totally gay but great for any Kiss fan, god help them. Only $5 or free with something else

roger adultery (roger adultery), Thursday, 12 August 2004 08:28 (twenty-one years ago)

OK - everything is being reduced. On principle, I will NOT throw this stuff away, since it's all perfectly good (and in the case of the organ, great). Think about it - one tough day borrrowing a truck or being really daring and tying an organ to the top of your Honda and you can have an awesome Hammond that people will not believe you paid $250 - fuck it, $150 for. COME ON!!
That's right, only $150! So, the organ is a total steal. Wifey's mad, but that's, as we say, tough titties.

Everything else except the hand truck, the DVD player, and keyboard stands is HALF PRICE. Yes, the records / CDs too.

I'd just GIVE this shit away, but then, the communists have already won.

Just kidding.

Actually, the extra trip to the city in what has become known as the Duct Tape Car (130,000 miles on it already and a tour, two trips to Tennessee, and an 8 hour drive to Michigan to go), with gas prices as they are, I just can't do it (plus we really need all the scratch we can get since we're coming upon our second month with no income and the trailer cost us $1500 to rent, this is to say nothing of security deposits, etc etc etc - you know how it is)

SO - I'll be in the city TWO MORE TIMES - on the 19th (and the very early morning of the 20th) I'll be in NYC and Brooklyn. On the 28th I will be in NYC for the Simon Finn show (I can come in early if it's worth my while).

Anyone who wants to arrange a trip to Staten Island, as some have already done, are welcome to, but we'll be gone from tomorrow till the 18th, and then the 20-26th. We leave for good on the 1st.

Email me asap or post here and reserve stuff - the cello is gone and I believe the hand truck, skateboard and keyboard stands are spoken for (but if you want any of them let me know in case any of those dudes flake out)

Don't make me resort to eBay (I probably won't - chances are, my sister and her fiance, he of the nu-metal band Bump, will inherit all of this stuff. Don't let it come to that.)

Oh, there's also a snowboard I'll let go for $10.

Plus, if you buy ANYTHING, you'll have the enviable honor of actually getting to meet me in person. For FREE!

i would really want a cello (even a trainer/teen) one.
damn.

heroes + villains, Sunday, 15 August 2004 20:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Where you moving, Rog?

Mark (MarkR), Sunday, 15 August 2004 20:36 (twenty-one years ago)

hahahahaa - you don't want ME in Sweden!

anyway, the cello's gone. A nice fella named Paul bought it. Sorry!

mark - Knoxville, TN

roger adultery (roger adultery), Sunday, 15 August 2004 20:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Am I crazy or did you live in Lansing for a while there?

Mark (MarkR), Sunday, 15 August 2004 20:46 (twenty-one years ago)

We were all set to move to Ypsilanti - we loved it there. Close to my best friend, good weather for me, etc etc etc, but the job fell through, and after that happened, I couldn't convince Wifey to move somewhere that wasn't warmer or cheaper.

Our only rule was that we had to live in a place that was mentioned by name in a Grateful Dead song.

We found both warmer AND cheaper in Knoxville, and, though my first choice will always be an igloo in upstate NY with only a DSL connection, a good banjo and my sexbomb of a woman to keep me sane, I've really fallen for Knoxville so far. 8 hours to Michgigan, 10 to NYC, and three major cities (four if you count Chatanooga) to keep our New York creature comforts in check. Proximity to Drive By Truckers a big plus. And Tan as Fuck, man. Tan as Fuck fucking rule.

I might want the 7"s. Can you give me some of the artists names, like 2 or 3 of the most appealing ones? I will probably be at NNCK/Simon Finn to buy them then maybe. And the Hammond organ sounds appealing but I don't have a car. Do you think it'd be carryable by hand on subway/train?

Daniel DiMAGGIO (Daniel DiMAGGIO), Sunday, 15 August 2004 22:44 (twenty-one years ago)

hammond organ carryable by hand...hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

dan bunnybrain (dan bunnybrain), Monday, 16 August 2004 00:01 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah man, no way. you'll need a car, and probably a big one. It took three of us to get it up the stairs

daniel - i'll get right back to you about the 7"s

roger adultery (roger adultery), Monday, 16 August 2004 00:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Someone is selling a Hammond organ - the ULTIMATE FUCKING MUSICAL INSTRUMENT - for the fucking ridiculous sum of $250 in NYC, and I live in Boston, from where one would think I could make arrangements to get my ass down there but this week is totally screwed up and there's no way I can do it . . . this is really rough justice. Really really rough.

southern lights (southern lights), Monday, 16 August 2004 00:45 (twenty-one years ago)

ah yeah sorry, I was thinking of a farfisa.

Daniel DiMAGGIO (Daniel DiMAGGIO), Monday, 16 August 2004 05:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I love my new cello! Have already recorded guest track on friends' demo, and broken a string. Why are four cello strings $80 when six guitar strings are only $5?

Paul Eater (eater), Monday, 16 August 2004 13:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Paul,
because they're less mass-produced.

Roger,
I'll take a keyboard stand! I live in Park Slope, where are you?

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Monday, 16 August 2004 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

think i can fit the hammond in the back of a jetta??

brock (brock), Monday, 16 August 2004 15:48 (twenty-one years ago)

What's your connection to Michigan Roger? I almost went to Eastern Michigan in Ypsi; but really just cause it's close to Ann Arbor and I fucked around too much in high school to get into U of M, so I'm living in Kalamazoo.

Moving from New York to Knoxville seems crazy to me, but not everybody's me.

David Allen (David Allen), Monday, 16 August 2004 17:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Rog -

If you plan to come down to Atlanta for a show or something, let me know in advance. Maybe we can hook up.

John Bullabaugh (John Bullabaugh), Monday, 16 August 2004 22:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Rog: Sorry I didn't get in touch with you the other day; my uncle split with the van shortly after we unloaded. Alas.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Monday, 16 August 2004 22:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Paul - glad yr happy! Like i said, it's pretty nice if yr just starting or having fun

David - my only connection with Michigan is that I have a lot of good friends there, and wrote a weekly column for a Michigan newspaper for a while. I'd live there if I could. But I'm really excited about Knoxville! I hate NYC

John - that sounds fun. I'm sure we'll be in Atlanta soon enough, a few tours in the works, friends in Athens, a few in Florida...

roger adultery (roger adultery), Friday, 27 August 2004 20:34 (twenty-one years ago)

John - one more question, an important (if somewhat trivial) one - have you ever heard The Hot Girls?

roger adultery (roger adultery), Friday, 27 August 2004 20:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Why do you hate NYC?

David Allen (David Allen), Sunday, 29 August 2004 17:32 (twenty-one years ago)

David, you're living in Kalamazoo? I went to college there.

jaymc, Sunday, 29 August 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, which?

David Allen (David Allen), Thursday, 2 September 2004 18:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I went to college in K'zoo as well: WMU.

Justin Farrar (Justin Farrar), Thursday, 2 September 2004 22:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Yep, Im there now. Howd you like it?

(Sorry about the delayed responses)

David Allen (David Allen), Monday, 6 September 2004 08:19 (twenty-one years ago)

If you are asking me then I love Kalamazoo. I thought WMU was a good school for me. I DJ'd at WIDR. I wrote obnoxious music criticism for the Western Herald. When it gets really fucking hot and if you have a car, then go check out Gull Lake or Gun Lake; they are gorgeous and really clean lakes. My friend, Pat, still lives there and he does the Scratch-n-Sniff label, which just put out great CD-Rs by Extreme Animals and Gang Wizard. Flipside is gone though. That was a wonderful record store. Grand Rapids now seems to have more going on. It was the other way around when I was in college.
