Oh, and my favorite moment: during a tribute to '50s rock & soul, Little Richard jumps on top of his piano and starts frug-ing, and then the Clara Ward Singers perform "Dem Bones" with remarkable aplomb (Clara does a grand ol' dance, and then the editors ruin it by inserting over the bluescreen images of two skeletons dancing -- get it, "dem bones," oh it hurts).
Worth borrowing just to view once and say "oh my god, I can't believe this happened," but not really worth owning. Head is a hundred thousand times better. Head is pretty widely available now, but "33 1/3" isn't -- I got it at the Amoeba in SF as a bootleg (which amazingly included the actual commercials it aired with -- Hi Karate! The American Scene!).
Hope this helps. I'll recap the whole "33 1/3" show if anyone's curious.

Is it mentioned upthread how it was buried in the schedule when it aired?

Three minutes in and I am thinking that this is the kind of thing that surely has to have a credit like Screenplay by Harlan EllisonAlan Smithee.

Guessing Davy doesn’t end up hitting on Julie Driscoll or even getting the proto-CGI stars in his eyes to the accompaniment of the “Monkees Love Theme” that I am starting to contend John Lennon nicked for his “Love” song on POB.

Got slaughtered by the '69 Oscars.
