Hip-hop group devastated by fire Aug 13 2004

US group the Black Eyed Peas lost £300,000 worth of musical equipment after the quartet set fire to their studio with candles.

According to The Sun, Fergie, Will.I.Am, Taboo and Apl.De.Ap decided to light the candles to set a cool mood while recording for their new album Monkey Business in Burbank, California.

But unfortunately for the hip-hop outfit they forget to blow them out as they went off to get something to eat.

Will.I.Am said: “Guitars, drums, keyboards, microphones and classic instruments which we’ve carried on our worldly travels are now destroyed.”

Doh!

I mourn for the loss of all that lovely musical equipment.

But still... damn schadenfreunde (can't even spell it) makes me laugh out loud with glee.

Haha, I remember seeing Will.I.Am introducing videos on one of those cable sequels to MTV or VH1. He was accompanied by a band in a nice candlelit studio, it seemed a bit dangerous at the time. That's just how BEP rolls I guess.

-- Al (hoteloper...), August 13th, 2004.

Actually, I hope the full album title is Monkey Business in Burbank, California.

I think the song title quote is "Let's Get Retarded."

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 13 August 2004 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

damn it miccio, you beat my horrible joke about them getting too retarded.

"..classic instruments which we’ve carried on our worldly travels.." is amazing, though. I wish them luck in their spiritual travels ahead.
