Astounding. The first unsigned band to headline the ICA since Suede. Great dance moves, songs and outfits. World domination beckons.....
First release comes out in October as a split 7" with Electric Soft Parade.

The Pipettes are indeed brilliant, saw them at Cargo a month or so ago. Formation dancing, great harmonies and funny songs. Not a patch on the Schla La Las, but...

Been a bit slow on the Pipettes bandwagon, but finally caught them last night, and... well, not as good as they could be.
I'd been told all these Supremes/Shang-Ri-Las/Hi-NRG comparsions, but all too often the tracks failed to jump-out from the schmind backing. Maybe this is the fault of the live backing-band, and with different production could easily be solved.
'ABC', The first track they played was fantastic and had a disco-funk backing that you could imagine was created by Alan Braxe and Fred Falke . But all too many of the songs decended into 7" DIY territory, which I have to admit I do enjoy, but it's all been done before.
So, very promising, but not quite the final product just yet.
