Does anyone know of a good station for contemporary (as in contemporary - like past 15 yrs) classical/compositional music? radioioclassical advertises itself as such but seems to spend more time on Vaughan Williams and Saint-Saens.

I like StaticBeats Chill, DI.fm Modern Jazz (free jazz and free improv - Evan Parker and Joelle Leandre on the radio!), the glorious cliqhop (Tetsu Inoue on the radio!). Gimme Noise helps me appreciate indie rock.

Oh yeah, Beatbasement is pretty good too.

I guess Modern Times looks a little better than radioioclassical.

Heading for the niche radio stations is a good way to go if you wake up in the morning and go 'hmmm, today I really want to hear nothing but klezmer music' or whatever. This one, Rusty Metal Radio, plays nothing but 80's metal and current stuff in the same (melodic) vein:

- WFMU at the top of the list
- WREK, Georgia Tech's station: http://wrek.org/ (They're down for the holiday break, should be back up by midweek)
- Technicolor Web of Sound, all 60s psychedelia and some hilarious period ads: http://www.techwebsound.com/
- Dr. Dick's Dub Shack, for that thick ropy stuff: http://dub.zionradio.com/
- American Mavericks has two streams of avant garde and modern composition, Smooth and Crunchy
- Dr. Yo (interesting mix of psych, punk, garage, avant garde, etc): http://www.dr-yo.com
