Louis Philippe Circumvents The (Middle) Man with Novel Concept and Sunshine
Louis Philippe, the amazing French impresario who helped to create the myth and mythos behind the infamous late 80s El records label as both in-house songwriter/arranger and pop maestro, has placed a siren's call out to fans, both current and future. He's asking all that have access to PayPal to subscribe to his soon (November 2004) to arrive album tentatively titled The Wonder of It All on his Sunshine website - www.louisphilippe.co.uk. Brilliant and many say the heir to Brian Wilson's musical throne, Louis has worked with Bertrand Burgalat, La Buena Vida, Cathal Coughlan (Microdisney, Fatima Mansions), Nick Currie (Momus), Dave Gregory (XTC), April March, Sean O'Hagan (Microdisney, The High Llamas), Keigo Oyamada (Flipper's Guitar, Cornelius), Simon Turner (King of Luxemburg), amongst others. Each purchaser will receive a personalized CD, autographed by Louis, featuring many tracks (outtakes, demos, rarities) that will be unavailable on the 'official' release, months before the record is available in the shops. And! the names of all the 'subscribers' will appear on the inner sleeve of the album. Sean O'Hagan is currently helping Louis put the finishing touches on the album.

Lovely man, fabulous El singles output and also charming when regularly rambling about French footy and his love of Arsenal on Setanta Sports News under his 'real' identity Philippe Auclair.

His last record was special. He's also great arranging the strings on The Clientele's last disc.
