not dud. but they're too self-consciously complex and don't quite pull it off for my money. they inspire tremendous fandom down here and i can mostly see why..

i've never listened to their albums, but they've had a couple of good singles (although very much not a 'singles' band) - 'the whole in your roof' or whatever it was called was quite nice.

their last album tanked, didn't it?

nah, it did quite well, top 30 chart placing and all that. but then it sounds like a fairly expensive production.

Search: "Sunset Studies" the first full length. It's a bit long but has excellent songs littered thoughout. Some friends like the early EPs - the Waltz one which i don't have. I recently got the "Thanks For The Memes" EP but haven't really listened yet. The second LP Strange Bird I find quite average but I'm sure someone will give it some love.

They have the potential to be Ausrtalia's best current band, but live the other night I was disappointed. Probably didn't help that I was exhausted, but still...

"Asleep In Perfection" was gorgeous, although the lustre wore off with the overplaying it got. Nice to see them getting a lot of buzz overseas, I guess.

they're on spinart here which normally means things aren't very good. but then the trashcan sinatras are on apinart now so maybe things have changed. i've never heard augie march. no point in hitting submit really.

i'm suprised it did that well, did it hang around for a while or was it just the rabid fanbase in effect for the first week?

they seem to fly under the radar a little... they'd probably do better marketed more towards the 'adult contemporary' audience than the jjj youngsters.

four years pass...

Any opinions of Watch Me Disappear? Jim? Piers (if you're still around)?

I gather it divided opinion quite a lot. It's not had anything jump out like anything off the previous two albums, but it certainly doesn't sound to me like a willful compromise or anything.

Apparently the band hate it!

I don't think Piers is still around, but I heard his wife on the radio the other day. No point in hitting submit really.

five years pass...

New album out in October. The two advance tracks are reassuringly great, especially "After the Crack Up."
