edward o (edwardo), Monday, 6 September 2004 12:04 (twenty years ago)

These were mostly hits Summer 1986

DJ Martian (djmartian), Monday, 6 September 2004 12:06 (twenty years ago)

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Monday, 6 September 2004 12:12 (twenty years ago)

I think I'm just going to pick off the tracks I love and other ones that catch my fancy...apparently Scritti Politti and Shabba Ranks had a song together!?

Michael B, Monday, 6 September 2004 12:13 (twenty years ago)

Thanks. I was just wondering about these because I saw that one of them was very high in local Philadelphia album charts.

Rockist_Scientist (rockist_scientist), Monday, 6 September 2004 12:17 (twenty years ago)

Like Steve, if this gets gmailed then of course I'm interested...

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 6 September 2004 12:21 (twenty years ago)

My favourites:

Now 7, Now 17, Now 18, Now 23, Now 24, Now 27 is especially good, so is Now 30.

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 6 September 2004 12:31 (twenty years ago)

I had half of Now 1 (hand me down from sister, actually she probably made me pay for it) and Now 7 (with 'Sledgehammer' on?) but took the latter back and exchanged it for something else because the tape was all wow and fluttery.

Alba (Alba), Monday, 6 September 2004 12:33 (twenty years ago)

Man Genesis "In Too Deep" is sick, that breakdown with the wobbly Casio solo is awe inspiring.

scg, Monday, 6 September 2004 12:42 (twenty years ago)

http://tv.cream.org/extras/now/index.htm

The only one I had was Now 14 (from early 89), which has stuff like "Every Rose Has Its Thorn", "Straight Up" by Paula Abdul and Tone-Loc's "Wild Thing".

Richard C (avoid80), Monday, 6 September 2004 12:43 (twenty years ago)

Shabba Ranks did indeed team up with Scritti Politti for a top 20 hit with 'She's A Woman' in '91 (i think)

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Monday, 6 September 2004 12:46 (twenty years ago)

I got 8 for Christmas when it came out. It's fantastic, even Boris Gardner.

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 6 September 2004 12:49 (twenty years ago)

steve, did u get my email?

Michael B, Monday, 6 September 2004 12:53 (twenty years ago)

the first bit of music i ever bought was Now 17, circa Easter 1990. It had such classics as Bizz Nizz "The Party Line", Ezee Posse "Everything Starts with an E", JT & the Big Family "Moments In Soul", Sydney Youngblood "I'd Rather Go Blind", The Quireboys "Hey You" and Candy Flip "Strawberry Fields Forever".

Funny how one assumes these things to be realistic archives of what was big at the time. They released Now "Best Ofs" a few years ago innit? It was a mishmash of the best of the Nows from each year minus the rubbish plus the hits.

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 6 September 2004 13:03 (twenty years ago)

not yet Michael, did you delete the ANGSTA?

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Monday, 6 September 2004 13:15 (twenty years ago)

i cant be dealing with gmail. if anyone wants these just go to www.streamload.com set up a FREE Streamload account and then just send me your user name and i can send it then straight to yer email.

Michael B, Monday, 6 September 2004 13:27 (twenty years ago)

one of my most played pieces of vinyl is NOW DANCE '86.
from *just* before the acid era, when dance meant extended versions of 'pull up to the bumper' and 'she's strange'.
its a fckng ace record.

piscesboy, Monday, 6 September 2004 13:30 (twenty years ago)

Even in 1991 Zoe's "Sunshine on a Rainy Day" was counted as dance music.

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 6 September 2004 14:06 (twenty years ago)

OK, so Streamload want money from me...

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 6 September 2004 15:53 (twenty years ago)

I had 1986 completely underrated until reading that tracklisting. Now I miss being in first grade.

billstevejim, Monday, 6 September 2004 16:29 (twenty years ago)

Now 6 is ace as it had Cities in Dust by Siouxsie and the Banshees, Lost Weekend by Lloyd Cole and A Good Heart by Feargal Sharkey. It was my best birthday present that year. I have them all up to Now 10, then I started buying proper albums more.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 6 September 2004 16:34 (twenty years ago)

Dave M. (rotten03), Monday, 6 September 2004 17:54 (twenty years ago)

Yay! aldo_cowpat

Now that's what I call filesharing.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 6 September 2004 21:20 (twenty years ago)

Or alternatively if someone wants to let me make some sort of practical use of my gmail account, that'd be grand.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 6 September 2004 21:26 (twenty years ago)

That was what I was thinking I was going to do, transfer to gmail... in which case, ailsa and I could test the powers of gmail that way? (I haven't got it in Streamload yet)

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 05:55 (twenty years ago)

streamload username: vasquesz

(and I too would be eternally grateful)

Vasquesz, Tuesday, 7 September 2004 06:21 (twenty years ago)

Vasquesz, Tuesday, 7 September 2004 08:11 (twenty years ago)

Thanks for the big whump in my inbox. I am going to try and transfer this to gmail (although it will probably be tomorrow as I am going out on the piss in 20 minutes).

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 12:38 (twenty years ago)

streamload username: subgenius

Please please please!

subgenius (subgenius), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 14:26 (twenty years ago)

Streamload username: Affectian
(but am I only allowed 100mb for free?)

Affectian (Affectian), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 14:36 (twenty years ago)

OK, I haven't really looked at this in any great detail, but whenever I try and do anything with it I get messages telling me I can't, as a 'freeloader'.

How have other people managed to do anything with the files?

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 11:41 (twenty years ago)
