If so, please report back on how it is!
He's playing with a full band for those dates, with Andy from Vetiver, Kyle Field of Little Wings, Adam Forkner from VRRSSNN/Yume Bitsu, and Jona Bechtolt of YACHT/The Badger King. Extremely curious as to how it might sound.

...except that i've seen Kyle, Adam, and Jona in the context of the little wings band before, and it's been full-on electric grateful-dead styling.

three weeks pass...
There were a lot of Devendra threads and I wanted to rant about his London gig last night so this seems to be the place...
OK, I like his albums. And I am aware of his story - that he's a folky-hippie guy, etc, but WHOA... First of all, the opening band were awful - possibly one of the worst performances I have seen. White hippie girls attempting Indian music (poorly) and then some dude did a bad French rap. I later learned that this was Devendra's girlfriend's band. I can't imagine them getting a gig otherwise...
Anyway, when Devendra came on, I was shocked by the hippie-ness of the whole thing. Look, I can handle this (I like going to Glastonbury, for instance), but this was too much. He was wearing a man-dress for chrissakes, and acting like a crazy person. I did enjoy it when it was just him and the guitar, but with the full band I just couldn't take it. Oh yeah, the bass player had two different sandals, then removed them and attached one to the end of his bass (in place of a cigarette, I supppose). Ewww. Sorry, I know I shouldn't be focusing on things like the way they look and act, but it was hard to get past. At the end of the show people came up on stage and it turned into some sort of hippie jam party. I left.

WHAT DID YOU EXPECT? You swallow the hype and then when you get too close, "EWWWWWWW!!!". Tourist.
