songs similar to "A Love Supreme"

I've been noticing similarities between parts of certain songs and the bass line/chant from John Coltrane's "A Love Supreme." Just about every piece on Terry Riley's "Shri Camel" album uses similar notes in the bass lines. The melody for Kraftwerk's song "Computer Love" is another example. Henry Kaiser has performed the Grateful Dead's "Dark Star" and "A Love Supreme" as a medley, where he goes from the former to the latter and back again. And finally, the Byrds "Eight Miles High" has some stuff going on in it which reminds me of "A Love Supreme." McGuinn and company said that Trane was a big influence.

Any other music like this out there?

The only one that particularly comes to mind for me is Pharoah Sanders' "The creator has a master plan" from the album "Karma". This is undoubtedly no coincidence though.
Speaking of which, has anyone ever heard King Crimson's cover of this? I'm really curious about how that one sounds.

I suspect the riff crops up a lot in blues-based albums.

... then there's "Hum-Allah-Hum-Allah Hum Allah" also by Pharoah Sanders and Leon Thomas - which was covered by Eugene Chadbourne and Camper Van Beethoven!

"Colours Fly Away" by the Teardrop Explodes nicks the main riff from Ascension.

Tho the song itself is actually a rip off of "It's Not Unusual" and not "Love Supreme"

Yeah, that main 4-note part in "Eight Miles High" was admittedly taken direct from Coltrane's "India".

As for other similar things, Santana/McLaughlin's "The Life Devine" would appear to be an answer to "A Love Supreme", especially since they also covered "Supreme" proper on that same LP (Love, Devotion, Surrender).

Sonny Sharrock's "J.D. Schaa" also has a 4-note bass line, an obvious homage.

And this could just be a false memory on my part, but didn't "Demolition Man" or some other Police track, feature another familiar bass line?

It's 'Hungry For You' I think, not 'Demolition Man', but wow, I hadn't actually realised that before.

I like 'Hungry For You' BTW, cos not speaking French, I thankfully don't have to take any notice of what Sting is singing.

isn't there a jesus lizard song where they use the melody from a coltrane song?

Will Downing's "A Love Supreme" is vaguely reminiscent of Coltrane's.
