Honestly criticize your favorite bands / artists

Try to be objective. Say something bad about your all time favorite artists. And I'm not talking about naming their bad songs (ex - Neil Young - "Let's Roll") - I mean, criticize their whole MO. Criticize the main ideas / glaring faults

Last time I did that they took it to heart and made their best album.

Jimmybommy JimmyK'KANG (Nick Southall), Friday, 10 September 2004 16:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Neil Young thinks the answer to everything is dippy environmentalism. Save the planet. Be the rain. Preserve natural beauty, oh Mother Earth.

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 10 September 2004 16:17 (twenty-one years ago)

not a favorite anymore but The Wedding Present held the top spot for several years, and consequently:

David Gedge sounds like Kermit.

Kool Keith has never been able to repeat anything as brilliant as Dr. Octagon because he's become obsessed with booty

Space Is the Place (Space Is the Place), Friday, 10 September 2004 16:36 (twenty-one years ago)

And I suppose that's a criticism?

Sonny A. (Keiko), Friday, 10 September 2004 16:38 (twenty-one years ago)

dexy's midnight runners have a horrible name

ded, Friday, 10 September 2004 16:38 (twenty-one years ago)

if the strokes REALLY wanted to be like guided by voices, theyd put out albums more frequently, and record more than 12 songs every 2 years when they do a session. these "extra" songs could be used as "b-sides", which could make for interesting "EP's" or "singles".

(sorry - best i can do.)

when oneida is at their best (90% of the time, mind you), the music is near-perfect. engaging, energetic, repetitive, and LOUD rock music. when the songcraft isnt there, sometimes im afraid im just listening to "funky-acid-groove music", and i experience a little bit of former-jam-band-fan guilt.

peter smith (plsmith), Friday, 10 September 2004 16:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I still say that Neil Young is being ironic on Be the Rain. See the movie.

It's true that the Dead aren't as good without the drugs. Try as I might, I just can't get into Scarlet Begonias unless I'm three sheets to the goddamm wind

The Fall's rhythm section gets away with a lot.

Drive By Truckers overdo it with the liberal stuff, almost as if they want more than anything to prove that despite being Southern, they really HATE prejudice and all that, making for some rather hamfisted lyrics

Danzig has never been truly 'aware' of his own audience, and is more than slightly 'out of touch,' and that is why he hasn't made a good record since 1992

Royal Trux? Shiiiiit. Well, I guess they could have recorded more cover songs.

The Dead C don't utilize Michael Morely nearly enough as a 'frontman' - this whole 'freenoise' thing disturbs me greatly.

Wolf Eyes flood the market.

A lot of Hank Williams songs sound exactly the same. Sometimes I'll be singing "Lost Highway" and then I'll go right into the chorus of "How Can You Refuse Him Now?" by accident

pleasekillme (roger adultery), Friday, 10 September 2004 16:57 (twenty-one years ago)

AC/DC has gone consistenly downhill since Back in Black. Brian Johnson's voice is totally shot.

cw28 (cw28), Friday, 10 September 2004 17:00 (twenty-one years ago)

im nervous about the future for black dice. the alchemy of their experimental rock is brilliant, but im afraid future turns away from rock could divorce them from the substance of their work. dance would also be fine, i think. but keep with the real instruments, and keep it visceral. thats my advice.

peter smith (plsmith), Friday, 10 September 2004 17:03 (twenty-one years ago)

i dont think i can criticize the fall. i dont really like much since 84 or 85, but mark e smith's approach is one of the best i can think of...

peter smith (plsmith), Friday, 10 September 2004 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Killing Joke - Weren't prolific enough. Should never have chased the carrot to repeat "Love Like Blood". Should never have recorded Outside the Gate. Jaz should never have thrown Big Paul out of the studio. They should stop lending their music to bad films (Mortal Kombat, Showgirls....and, well, Weird Science wasn't that bad). They should be a lot more straight forward and follow through with their threats. They should stop trying to out-metal the nu-metalers and return to the "golden harp" guitar chime of the Fire Dances/NightTime era, which is a thousand times more distinctive than chugging power chords and Jaz's bellowing (he used to actually sing more often). DON'T LET YOUTH PRODUCE ANOTHER ALBUM EVER AGAIN.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 10 September 2004 17:09 (twenty-one years ago)

A few years ago, I actually did this with several of my favourite albums, just to see if I could. Here's a sample. Re-reading it now, it sounds like something I'd put on the "Negative Reviews that Make You Want to Buy the Album" thread.

Spiritualized -- Pure Phase. The twelfth track, "Pure Phase", perfectly embodies this album. A whirring, humming, single note (G) fades back and forth, from speaker to speaker, for six and a half minutes. Jason Pierce likened it to the sound of a violin section tuning up -- a single, pure, sustained note to relax and lose yourself in. If indeed you find yourself lost in such a listening experience, then "Pure Phase" may be for you.

Otherwise, this album can try your patience like no other. "Pure Phase", that everlasting G, never really goes away, as it is featured at various levels in the mix throughout most of the album. Thus, the entire album is in a single key, casting a blanket of sameness over all of the material. The usual concept of "songs", with verses, bridges and choruses, is flippantly tossed aside. With a few exceptions ("These Blues" and "Lay Back in the Sun" are two of them) everything is a sequence of instrumental one note mantras (e.g. "Electric Mainline), and semi-stoned warbling over wibbly guitar feedback (e.g. "Slide Song"). Jason seems to disappear over long, vocal-less sections of the album, vanishing into a swath of droning, purring notes, while the listener is left behind wondering and waiting if the droning will ever stop and if something will actually happen on this album. "Spread Your Wings" is a fine example of the kind of orchestral arrangements that would be further perfected on the next two Spiritualized albums, but it is the sole example of it's kind here, in the presence of "balladry" such as "Take Good Care of It", which contains one sustained chord, Jason's voice buried beneath a mile of gauze, and very little else.

It's not difficult to understand why Spiritualized had to wait until "Ladies and Gentlemen We are Floating In Space" to make their critical and commercial breakthrough.

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Friday, 10 September 2004 17:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Chilly Gonzales should make more records.

noodle vague (noodle vague), Friday, 10 September 2004 17:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, and some of those instrumentals are a bit nothing-y.

noodle vague (noodle vague), Friday, 10 September 2004 17:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Aside from being a great guitarist and greater producer, JIMMY PAGE was also a greedy shameless thief, chronically stealing tunes/licks/arrangements from a variety of sources and never apologizing or even admitting it - no matter how badly some of those sources could've used a little financial help in the form of royalty payments. JOHN "BONZO" BONHAM was a pathetic drunken bully who treated women and other folks weaker than himself the same way he treated his drums: Battered the hell outta them like no-one before or since. ROBERT PLANT was a shallow, arrogant fop, whose shameless big-dick preening was as embarrassing as his lyrics, and as unsubtle as his air-raid siren voice, which he'd begun to ruin with coke & whiskey as early as 1973. And JOHN PAUL JONES was John Paul Jones. Ladies & gentlemen...LED ZEPPELIN, the finest rock & roll band there ever was.

Myonga Von Bontee (Myonga Von Bontee), Friday, 10 September 2004 17:18 (twenty-one years ago)

hey scott walker!

sometimes, when you make music, its fun to release it!

peter smith (plsmith), Friday, 10 September 2004 17:22 (twenty-one years ago)

lauryn hill's career has been the biggest pop disappointment of the late 90's-00's. who convinced her it was fake to make great, heartfelt pop music? so you think youre a phony. get over it! we dont think so! at least we didnt, until you put out that godawful stripped down acoustic shit.

peter smith (plsmith), Friday, 10 September 2004 17:25 (twenty-one years ago)

XTC's Andy Partidge tends to treat his songs like model airplanes, all of them painstakingly crafted, but rarely amounting to as much as the work he put into them.

Brian Wilson should not be encouraged to make new music.

Dominique (dleone), Friday, 10 September 2004 17:26 (twenty-one years ago)

i think thats sort of indicative of why i dont like xtc, dom. sounds too fussy to be catchy.

also, i think all of my complaints make me feel too conservative. maybe im just feeling like a crusty bastard today though.

peter smith (plsmith), Friday, 10 September 2004 17:30 (twenty-one years ago)

A lot of John Coltrane's marathon solos had passages which amounted to Coltrane merely practicing scales, for minutes at a time.

Myonga Von Bontee (Myonga Von Bontee), Friday, 10 September 2004 17:37 (twenty-one years ago)

The New Pornographers should let Neko sing every song.

Pinback needs a new song template.

Robert Pollard needs a goddamn editor.

The Beach Boys should have never allowed Mike Love in the band. (I don't care what he added to Good Vibrations or Wouldn't it be Nice).

Built to Spill need to quit jamming on stage.

darin, Friday, 10 September 2004 17:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Roxy Music sometimes overdid the lyrical Valentine-card shit

Black Sabbath were occasionally more self-righteous than heavy drug users probably should be

dave q, Friday, 10 September 2004 17:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I've liked/loved all their albums but I wish U2 had continued being relatively experimental as opposed to "pleasing the crowd".

Saint Etienne needs to release more albums and fewer compilations! Also, their early album covers aren't so good.

The Handsome Family sometimes drifts a little too close to cliched murder ballads (usually saved by Rennie's remarkable lyrics and the deceptively simple arrangements).

Underworld - Love them, but the last two albums had one or two interchangeable, anonymous-sounding tracks that sounded like filler to me.

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 10 September 2004 17:42 (twenty-one years ago)

the beatles stopped rocking and tried to become artistes.

fact checking cuz (fcc), Friday, 10 September 2004 17:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Brian Eno can be a tad pretentious at times, and he produced albums for some pretty shitty bands. And "Before and After Science" isn't as good as people seem to think it is (though "Taking Tiger Mountain..." is better than people seem to think it is).

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 10 September 2004 17:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I sometimes appreciate the nod-out drone effect from the long instrumentals on Olivia Tremor Control and Animal Collective albums...but after 10 minutes, I get the point...let's move on

Space Is the Place (Space Is the Place), Friday, 10 September 2004 18:30 (twenty-one years ago)

mark eitzel doesn't understand how to record his voice

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 10 September 2004 18:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Lou Barlow will never do another One Part Lullaby. It was not him but Davis that made it great.
Tori Amos is insane, and not in a very entertaining way.
Yo La Tengo are done.
Morrissey has never had a sound in mind for his own songs.
Peter Buck needs to quit the fucking arpeggios.

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Friday, 10 September 2004 18:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Damon Albarn is an obnoxious little prick who can't take a joke and can't finish what he fucking starts.

The Good Dr. Bill (Andrew Unterberger), Friday, 10 September 2004 18:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Yo La Tengo are done.

I find this one to be the saddest.

The Good Dr. Bill (Andrew Unterberger), Friday, 10 September 2004 18:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay, New Orleans brass bands have some stupid lyrics sometimes. But it's not about the lyrics, necessarily.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 10 September 2004 18:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Wire - Stole the sound in my head for their last album. Bastards.

Pixies - Bossanova has a bit too many less-than-memorable songs on it, moreso than the other albums. Pixies albums in general also seem to start off rather untouchably for the first 8-10 tracks but start to peter out after that. Kim Deal was underused on their last two albums.

Aphex Twin - dude's just being lazy at this point. a bit too much goofiness on later records.

Nirvana - i love nirvana but the "st. kurt" crap impedes enjoyment of them as what they were: just a great pop-rock band.

Nine Inch Nails - T-rez is a fucking genius as producer/programmer/ sound designer (and occasionally song writer) but his lyrics have never been the best. Plus they suffer from a terminally adolescent worldview. Though that's not always a bad thing. But most of all, finish the damn album, "perfectionist"!

Meshuggah - Vocals are a tad generic and have always been the weak link for that band.

My Bloody Valentine - What Ned said upthread.

Metallica - Needs no explanation really.

Black Flag - Sort of got lost in a thick haze of the wacky tobbacky on the later albums. Plus Henry Rollins post-damaged.

Minor Threat - Despite the rather dubious legacy of Straight Edge (which is still afucking great song), i've got nothing much negative to say.

Slayer - Geat band but prolly not the brightest bulbs in person.

Sonic Youth - Have been really hit-or-miss for more than a decade. Haven't heard Sonic Nurse yet.

Misfits - What pleasekillme upthread about Danzig, plus Jerry Only pissing all over the fucking legacy.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Friday, 10 September 2004 18:53 (twenty-one years ago)

T-rez

Hahahahaha.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 10 September 2004 18:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Barney Summer has written maybe three good lyrics since 1987.

The Good Dr. Bill (Andrew Unterberger), Friday, 10 September 2004 18:57 (twenty-one years ago)

T-rez

K-Cob

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Friday, 10 September 2004 18:58 (twenty-one years ago)

T-rez
Hahahahaha.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Friday, 10 September 2004 18:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I think i should start using K-Cob though, i like that one.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Friday, 10 September 2004 19:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Young Marble Giants - torn apart by a deadly combination of sibling and boy/girl issues. Probably could have made at least two more good albums.

mike a, Friday, 10 September 2004 19:06 (twenty-one years ago)

thats not criticism!

peter smith (plsmith), Friday, 10 September 2004 19:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I know - that's about the most softball criticism ever. I can't do it!

mike a, Friday, 10 September 2004 19:16 (twenty-one years ago)

shirley collins should never had put reverb on her voice

amateur!!st, Friday, 10 September 2004 19:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I agree with the Neil Young environmental stuff, but more generally I would say his lyrics are terrible as often as they are ineffably great, often in the same song.

Patterson Hood (Drive By Truckers) has about 2 melodic tricks.

southern lights (southern lights), Friday, 10 September 2004 19:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmmm...you're hitting close to home for me here, but reluctantly agree on both counts, southernlights.

The Dead C don't utilize Michael Morely nearly enough as a 'frontman' - this whole 'freenoise' thing disturbs me greatly.

---

yes, very true! even though i dig the noisy dead c freak-outs in a limited kind of way (i preferred their live show / russells live solo shows to most of their last few albums), its morleys 'wreck small speakers', and wonderful songs like 'all of this' and 'rain' that make me want them to be more song-structured..

chris andrews (fraew), Sunday, 12 September 2004 21:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Mark E. Smith's an utter bastard. So's Lou Reed.

Sasha (sgh), Monday, 13 September 2004 03:44 (twenty-one years ago)

All those 'low-fi' bands should try recording their stuff PROPERLY, like maybe in a studio. Christ, CAN never needed more'n two tracks, and their stuff sounds great!

Myonga Von Bontee (Myonga Von Bontee), Monday, 13 September 2004 05:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Lou Reed has horrible hair and wears even worse pants/shoe combos

ken taylrr (ken taylrr), Monday, 13 September 2004 05:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Big Black's frankness about the filler tracks on their albums didn't make them any better. Also, their attempts at gravity were often just childish.

Lightning Bolt dress like retards and their free noise bits are nowhere near as good as they think.

Low are Mormoms FFS.

Khanate have no sense of their own ridiculousness.

DJ Mencap0))), Monday, 13 September 2004 11:32 (twenty-one years ago)

R. Kelly is probably guilty.

C0L1N B3CK3TT (Colin Beckett), Monday, 13 September 2004 12:09 (twenty-one years ago)

And it's not like THIS set of love songs and God songs is suddenly a concept album.

C0L1N B3CK3TT (Colin Beckett), Monday, 13 September 2004 12:12 (twenty-one years ago)

the neptunes like cocaine too much

pete b. (pete b.), Monday, 13 September 2004 12:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Destiny's Child STILL has not figured out how to most effectively work Michelle the Gospel Singer into the group as a lead vocalist (which is super tragic because I strongly suspect that she's the strongest singer of the three but Kelly and Beyonce's timbres match so well that it makes cognitive sense to give them most of the leads).

Dan Perry '08 (Dan Perry), Monday, 13 September 2004 12:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I have a weird feeling that Yo La Tengo might be a better band if Ira and Georgia got divorced but kept playing together. I mean, look at this latest Stereolab record!

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Monday, 13 September 2004 14:53 (twenty-one years ago)

(Tim, are you implying that Trina's butt should be bigger?)

Frank Kogan (Frank Kogan), Monday, 13 September 2004 16:00 (twenty-one years ago)

EXERCISES IN STATING THE OBVIOUS!
Robert Smith's voice is grating, and his lyrics are usually lame.
Bono Vox doesn't think before he speaks.
Michael Franti needs to take the marbles out of his mouth.
Same with Chuck Mosely.
Fiona Apple needs Prozac.

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Monday, 13 September 2004 16:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Stephen Malkmus should stop being afraid of sounding like Pavement and write more songs like "Dynamic Calories".

While their high points are incredible, Dinosaur Jr are more often than not boring and meandering.

Actually come to think of it, most of my favourite bands only have about 4 or 5 great songs and about 10 good songs, which is not enough to justify me buying so much of their discography.

alex in montreal, Monday, 13 September 2004 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Sonic Youth - Kim Gordon sounds like when a homeless person comes onto public transport rambling to herself, and everyone else averts their eyes and hopes she doesn't sit down next to them.

syntaxfree (syntaxfree), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:09 (twenty-one years ago)

As much as I love his old records, Rakim fell the fuck off with The 18th Letter and has been phoning it in ever since. He needs to find some better beats and get re-inspired. (Not that he's done much over that last seven years.)

soo soo OTM...everytime I hear his versus I'm like "Wow if this was anyone else you would just flat out say it was a shit verse"

Archers of Loaf seemed to think they were as good at being wierd and downbeat as they were being great tuff pop punk anthem writers...see the last album for the tragic results.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Monday, 13 September 2004 20:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Peter Hammill hasn't used a decent producer since the mid 70s. Also, many of his relationship songs cast him in the role of a total Psycho Hose Beast. And he should listen to a broader range of music to avoid being stuck in nid 80s AOR hell, sonically.

noodle vague (noodle vague), Monday, 13 September 2004 21:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Ween: Stop embracing sissy McCartney pop. Shit's lame. White Pepper and Quebec are easily your worst records.

Flaming Lips: More country songs and less screaming Japanese women!!

The Streets: Perfect!!

The Strokes: ROOM ON FIRE HAS NO GODDAMNED MELODIES ON IT!!!

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Monday, 13 September 2004 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Scissor Sisters: Never ever ever ever ever try to make a shitty (and apparently 100% unironic) heartfelt ballad like "Mary" ever again. Ever! Shit's lame!! It's worse than fuckin' "Open Up Your Heart" by the Rapture, and THAT was pretty fuckin' rubbish!!

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Monday, 13 September 2004 22:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Dan Perry '08 (Dan Perry), Monday, 13 September 2004 22:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Luna have half a song if they're fucking lucky. Dean Wareham sounds like a frog.* They over-rely on reverb to mask what I will politely refer to as a dearth of guitar-solo ideas. The lyrics about squid and motel rooms are getting fucking stupid. You're not a sex god, Dean, quit singing about it (though frankly anyone who's got Britta in band and bed both has some right to brag).

*This can mean "small green animal" or "Kermit" or "French guy" or all of the above, whatever you prefer

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Orlando is far too flagrantly homosexual.

Britney Spears has released some really horrible singles (Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know, Not A Girl), and the next one (My Prerogagive)is looking to compete with them.

David Bowie hasn't released anything very consistent in 24 years.

Dickon Edwards is too consumed by narcissism to make Fosca into anything more than the delight of London transsexuals. And he hasn't released anything in two years.

Jarvis Cocker is now an incredibly ugly son of a bitch.

danh (danh), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 02:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Michael Stipe's vocals where alot better when you didn't know what he was saying. Peter Buck also should never have put away his Rickenbacker.

Superchunk should have broken up after Foolish and reformed as a different band, which is what they sound like to me. It is ok to rock, especially when you don't sing that well.

The Grifters shouldn't have started making solo projects, none of them are nearly as good as what they had going together. If they would have run out the dry spell, I think people would get it now.

Bob Mould alone on an acoustic guitar is kinda boring. Bring the noise and make peace with Grant Hart, shit man it has been sixteen years.

Page and Plant need to quit shitting on John Paul Jones. To go out and do a record and a couple of tours and make a bunch of cash is fine, but to use call the record "No Quarter" and make it kind of the centerpiece of this get together is lame considering that is one tune that JP Jones definitely put together. Oh well...it is kind of par for the course, no?

They're my favorite band ever, but: Red House Painters/Mark Kozelek/Sun Kil Moon have never released anything as good as RHP's 1993 and '95 records. Sad but true.

Also, while I'm here: Crooked Fingers, brilliant though they are, have never released an album that is not without its (more than fair) share of filler.

Yep, I agree with what's been said about Boredoms, Sonic Youth and Yo La Tengo. This thread is like therapy!

Wilco: you are not a kraut-rock or noise-drone or detached cool hip indie band. Bring back the hooks and the enthusiasm please!

King Crimson were over-indulgent and Fripp's solo-ing favoured technicality over feeling. (hurt to write that though)

Pink Floyd - you're boring.

Jane's Addiction - you shouldn't have got back together.

Tom Waits - can't do it. Even the most schmaltzy 70's stuff is wonderful and necessary, while the most abrasive later period clanging has its place. But yep, he should f**kin' tour.

Jane's Addiction - Perry Farrell makes me want to throw up every time he opens his mouth in print or on TV. Dave Navarro is a fashion obsessed egomaniac only one step removed from Lenny Kravitz. Eric Avery hangs out with Alanis Morrissette.

Pavement - They were great but they could have been phenomenal if they had just given a shit. The slacker thing went out in '92.

Sonic Youth - Most of the recent albums contain no surprises or anything even resembling a new idea. They're still enjoyable but you can tell what a SY record will sound like before it even comes out.

Public Enemy - Ceased to be groundreaking about 10 minutes after Apocalypse '91 was released.

De La Soul - Consistently inconsistent.

New Order - Even on the classic records, there's always a

little

bit of filler.

James Brown - Seems like he's a little unstable at times.

Underworld have like three songs: full-on banger, quiet ambient thing, and "Bruce Lee".

But but "Little Speaker"! Most quiet ambient things don't crescendo so rewardingly.

(hmm, "Trim" is "Bruce Lee" though, you're right)

"I Can't Dance" by Genesis is absolutely awful. Completely unlistenable crap.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Monday, 4 October 2004 19:24 (twenty-one years ago)

But are you a Genesis fan otherwise?

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Monday, 4 October 2004 19:50 (twenty-one years ago)

As for their 70s stuff, absolutely!

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Monday, 4 October 2004 22:57 (twenty-one years ago)

David Bowie hasn't released anything very consistent in 24 years.

2-3 years ago, this was true.

Fugazi always seemed like they needed to lighten up a little, though I guess their intensity comes partly from taking themselves so seriously.

Led Zeppelin, well, I love you guys but I could go on for two hours about your faults.

Tortoise, that Ennio Morricone shit is lame, and it sounds the same everytime you do it from the first album to the most recent. Your Steve Reich rip-offs are sometimes good but they're pretty half-assed Steve Reich rip-offs.

Jay-Z if you wanted to retire at the top of your game you should have quit after The Blueprint.

Bill Evans, you played a great ballad but you never swung like Bud Powell.

But are you a Genesis fan otherwise?

I forget that there are lots of new ILMers who weren't here when Geir last graced our presence!

Wolf eyes - Love you so much, but sometimes I swear I hear lyrics in stead of shouting (live, not on record to my knowledge), and they're really embarassing.

David Allen (David Allen), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 06:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Acid Mothers Temple - learn a lesson from Ghost and release a fully realized record, say, every four years, instead of twelve crap LPs every month.
