Too Patronising To Mention P.R.I.C.

Has anyone heard of the acronymic Cambridge band, President Reagan is Clever and their mid-eighties release, 'From This To That'? Or the Falkland Islands concept album 'Eric', released by Sheffield band, The Special Moments. Both of these albums would be in my top twenty albums of all time, and yet I so often, perhaps patronisingly, omit these from my official lists, simply because I'm convinved noone would have heard of them. Do you cherish any similar albums by local or obscure bands - albums that dare not speak their names?

Yeah - The New Rob Robbies' Pure Whore - abso-fucking-lutely brilliant. Best CD that came out (whenever it was - '99?) I think they still have MP3s at MP3.com - but the band is no more.

... And (one of) you can buy it for 75 cents at half.com

That was the band produced by Joe Carducci, right? Their name is so terrible, I didn't feel like bothering.

Yeah - it was Carducci. The name was unfortunate. Great band, though.

one month passes...
My label - 'Atlas For Fun' - is actually putting together a compilation album of songs by unsigned bands (mainly in 1980's) that have so far only ever been on demo tapes. Plenty of the material I've heard so far could be described as classic and it makes me wince when I think how close some of the reels were to burning up - opened by the unsuspecting nephew of an ex-band member. Mel's Kitchen's "For Goodness Sake" would probably be in my top twenty.
