Does this say anything about the sorry state of the planet?

Is this that dreadful thing that happens in Monaco every year? I've never seen anyone I've almost nearly remotely liked on that. I have no faith.

The late night ITV footage of pensioners sleeping in their tuxedos/ball gowns whilst Dr Albarn muttered his way through his hit convinced me that this is the awards that mean the most to the music industry.

Y'know, Celine gets played all the time on the soft-rock station here at the office, and I consider myself extremely lucky to be completely indifferent to her. Unlike many of the rest of you, I've NEVER heard her do a song I hated, or even took much notice of. In one ear & out the other. (Same deal w/Whitney Houston, who also gets much airplay, of course, except that a few of her songs I'll go so far as describe as 'mildly pleasant'.) So although I've got no feelings in particular for Celine OR the folks who love her music (aside from some co-workers, who are perfectly decent folks), I can sympathize with any of you who can't stand her, especially if you're forced to listen to her while performing your jobs. But I'll reserve my own extreme loathing for the likes of Michael Bolton and Counting Crows and Barenaked Ladies (all of whom are all in depressingly high rotation at EZ Rock, needless to say.)

Damn, that's a tough one but I'll have to go with

Counting Crows > Celine > BNL > Michael Bolton

It's counting crows remake of the joni track, of course.

As if their own material wasn't bad enough, now they gotta ruin a true classic. Dig this: they substitute "took my baby away" for "took away my old man" and don't even try to find a credible rhyme. Brilliant thinking guys; but if you really NEEDED to fuck with the lyrics, why not cut that breathtakingly anachronistic reference to DDT for chrissakes! Just inept in every way. They should roll that insufferable singer of theirs up in a rug and drop him off a bridge.

Check out the "Dylan" version.
