I say HELLYA!

So do my two friends who drove to Chicago to see them (though they did prefer the non-FOwler songs...which were about half)

One of the bestest shows of my life so far...Tackhead in Toronto circa 1988. But that was with Gary Clail and Mark Stewart. Like this "tour", ASherwood at the mixing desk. Perfecttorsobendingthumpingdubtronics!

Tackhead is back-head

oh ya...Chicago gig only 1/3 full. My friends complained that they had to drive all the way to Chicago to see them, when they felt that there could've been at least as many to see a show in Detroit.

Why are they touring. Does anyone know? Not really promoting any release. My theory is that they're backing someone up on a recording somewhere in NAmerica.

Its just a theory. Maybe Herb Albert is putting out another album with them!

oh for them to play a show in bristol.

YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT THEY GO ON AT 8:30 SHARP AS DUB CLUB IS AFTER THAT.

I hope they don't do any of the Living Color-ish stuff.

Thea (Thea), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 20:06 (twenty-one years ago)

go see tackhead, why would you not?

great live and, tho yes, albums are disappointing the musicians within it have created great stuff, live and on record in multiple configurations and are always a good show.

(and whas wrong with the living color-ish stuff anyvays?)

H (Heruy), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 20:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I just personally am not a fan of that period of their music. The only thing that was "wrong" was that I didn't like it!

Thea (Thea), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 20:17 (twenty-one years ago)

please report back so i can hear how bad it was.

stirmonster, Wednesday, 15 September 2004 20:22 (twenty-one years ago)

they just sounded good--big and fierce. bernard was onstage for about 60% of it, and he was fine. he can sing, and he wasn't operating under the impression that it was about him. it kind of dragged in the middle when they did two songs from skip's upcoming album (a bluesy one and a reggae one), but i loved it because they were making it about skip, and skip has the best stage presence (clothes, scowl, moves) since tracy pew. they really play as a band--no egos, everyone knows when to not play. very celebratory atmosphere. i was right in the middle of the audience age range (i am 57). they played "the message", with doug rapping, and it wasn't exactly great but i couldn't stop smiling. virtuousos + humility + lots of happy people. i shook adrian sherwood's hand afterwards.

dan (dan), Thursday, 16 September 2004 16:20 (twenty-one years ago)

57 was the mid-range for the audience?

that's fantastic, because it means there must've been some 80-year-olds there.

Thea (Thea), Thursday, 16 September 2004 16:26 (twenty-one years ago)

bernard was onstage for about 60% of it,

that i coul dhandle. last time i saw the he was on stage 100% of the time and it was ALL about his dick. did they play any early tackhead?
