I could swear that she is.

Nowell, Wednesday, 15 September 2004 21:55 (twenty-one years ago)

It's all about who is black and who is gay with you, Nowell. Why does it matter?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 22:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Cuz I'm actually part black.
The gay thing - I'm not thinking about that so much now.

Nowell, Wednesday, 15 September 2004 22:01 (twenty-one years ago)

judging by the pictures on their website, I would say yes.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I was just wondering cuz it's interesting and rare to see black women making rock music.

I couldn't really tell. I didn't look at pictures I saw of her too well.

Nowell, Wednesday, 15 September 2004 22:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't even look on their website before I made this silly thread. Sorry.

Nowell, Wednesday, 15 September 2004 22:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Bellrays to thread. I thought they pwned the Blues Explosion a few years ago when they were the support.

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 22:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Bellrays?

Nowell, Wednesday, 15 September 2004 22:22 (twenty-one years ago)

They're a band. They kick rock and roll ass. (At least they did that one night.) Their lead singer is a black woman with big hair and a big voice.

tina turner + mc5 is the usual rockcrit math for the bellrays...although they don't totally sound like that from what i've heard...sounded good though.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

What's their best album so far?

Nowell, Wednesday, 15 September 2004 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Nowell you may be interested in this --> Why does black people never want to rock?

You've Got to Pick Up Every Stitch (tracerhand), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 22:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay, I know you HATE IT when i say I have to go, but I'm going.

Nowell, Wednesday, 15 September 2004 22:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I mean, I know you hate it when I tell you that I'm going. You said that if you're gonna leave, just leave. But I'm saying it anyway.

Nowell, Wednesday, 15 September 2004 22:30 (twenty-one years ago)

oh my god, black people like to rock! HOLY FUCKING SHIT! i cant believe that black people would want to do something that white people do! i mean, its not like they didnt come up with the concept of rock'n'roll or anything...

really though, why does it matter? if people without arms and legs want to play music, i say go for it. it is all good.

on that note, here's a song by my friend sean, WHO IS BLACK, IF THAT MATTERS TO YOU:

I mean, I know you hate it when I tell you that I'm going. You said that if you're gonna leave, just leave. But I'm saying it anyway.

Why?

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 23:03 (twenty-one years ago)

It was something someone said on another thread. Nowell thinks we're all the same person.

Wooden (Wooden), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 23:07 (twenty-one years ago)

The woman from the Bellrays should hook up with that needlessly hirsute sasquatch in Coheed & Cambria and start an empire of hair.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 23:13 (twenty-one years ago)

As long as it's not a band called Empire of Hair.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 23:17 (twenty-one years ago)

What the hell would be wrong with calling a band Empire of Hair?

Wooden (Wooden), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 23:18 (twenty-one years ago)

no the joke is...ah, dammit if i have to explain my own joke i SUCK.

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 23:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw the Bellrays once and they were good fun. "The Only Black Guy At the Indie-Rock Show" is some good stuff. That summarized my entire adoslescence in 3 minutes.

J-rock (Julien Sandiford), Thursday, 16 September 2004 04:25 (twenty-one years ago)

The Bellrays singlehandedly justify the existence of Poptones Records (in the UK). I spent most of 2002 trying to explain their fantasticness to people and getting frustrated at their complete refusal to Get It.

DJ Mencap0))), Thursday, 16 September 2004 08:15 (twenty-one years ago)

thermals kinda suck tho huh?

jeremiah (jeremiah), Thursday, 16 September 2004 08:18 (twenty-one years ago)

the woman from the bellrays stood in for rob tyner at the recent mc5 shows. she was pretty good. she really had the hair. mark arm was better, but less so with the coiffure.

Peter Watts (peterw), Thursday, 16 September 2004 09:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I do NOT think you're all the same person.
I just don't like saying names.

Nowell, Thursday, 16 September 2004 20:17 (twenty-one years ago)

And I feel strangely crappy today.
I can't explain it.

Nowell, Thursday, 16 September 2004 20:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Nowell, you write like a cat.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Thursday, 16 September 2004 20:24 (twenty-one years ago)

'Scuse me?
