The band what wrote "Prime Mover."

The band with Cobalt Stargazer in it. Mmm mmm good.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 26 February 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

an even more comedy and OTT version of The Cult when they turned into a heavy rock band in 1987.

Not a band to take seriously. Harmless sing-a-long rock annd roll. Not worth investigating.

Hmm, I had been content with just "Prime Mover", but DJ Martian's description makes me realize I should investigate further.

It occurs to me the right response to this question, considering this is Freaky Trigger, would've been "a band Bill Drummond produced."

two weeks pass...
recently reformed for one-off gig in london, alex james (blur) backed on bass at last minute, nme.com search will provide more answers i suspect. lost his leather jacket at gig in Leeds many years ago - remember seeing his notes all over campus requesting return of said item. no idea if ever got it returned. www.ireallylovemusic.co.uk

ten months pass...
mark manning was zodiac mindwarp, his band were the love reaction. poor leather-clad indierockers from the midlands (of course). mark worked on a book with bill drummond, published about 4 years ago, that was mostly shit.can't remember the title but i bet you could search it out.he now lives in a cottage in north devon. i used to work with one of his roadies.

Zodie's sections of the book with Bill Drummond were kind of literally about shit, if I remember correctly.

I saw them supporting motorhead many years ago. They totally fuxing blew. Thee next day I ws in local music shoppe & saw ZOD HIS-SELF - a weaselly little fellow in a satin tour jax0ret. Most unimpressive.

Zodiac himself is also involved in The Oldie magazine, as well as loads of stuff with Bill Drummond - they did that Bands from Norway (or wherever it was) thing together, amongst other things. And The Love Reaction appear to be sort of back together again, they've done several gigs to do with Mark Manning's books, and recently did a short tour of America. When Alex from Blur doesn't play with them (i.e. most of the gigs), the bass player is Kev Reverb, formerly of Crazyhead, who is ACE producer and source of the above knowledge.

Oddly enough, I just picked up this book for FOUR BUCKS in the middle of a mall (huge tables with tons of books, most of which are poo poo). I figured that it was probably trash, but for four bucks it might be worth a larf.

Bad Wisdom is the book. I bought it based on the Bill Drummond link and because of the Jarvis quote on the cover. It is a genuinely rubbish book yet somehow creepily compelling.

Plus the bits about Tracy Beehive got me back into Voice From The Beehive again.
