Taking Sides: The Bee Gees Vs Tony Sparkle

Although The Bee Gees went on to far wider international recognition, Tony Sparkle was a more interesting disco artist in my opinion. Although he only had the one UK top 20 hit ("I Want to Boogie You All Night") it was arguably superior and more progressive than any number of Bee Gees classics from the same era. Indeed, after two albums (1978's "Born to Sparkle" and 1979's "Glitter Me Up") Sparkle quit in order to become a producer and set up the short lived "Sparkle Records" (which signed an early incarnation of Heaven 17).

Anyway, gone but not forgotten - Tony Sparkle wins this Taking Sides, although I admit The Bee Gees were up against stiff, albeit underrated, competition.

I'm a pre-disco Bee Gees fan, so whatever I'd say would disqualify me.

You should check out, or download, the song: "The Girl Who Dines In Sarah". Perverted but excellent.

I'm surprised there have not been more comments on this. I thought you people knew all about music!
