the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 19 September 2004 07:27 (twenty-one years ago)

(btw clap sticks and vocs going ahead.)

gaz (gaz), Sunday, 19 September 2004 07:31 (twenty-one years ago)

yay

the music mole (colin s barrow), Sunday, 19 September 2004 07:40 (twenty-one years ago)

phil, did you ever get the blank cd's i sent? the post punk cd's were great.

frenchbloke (frenchbloke), Sunday, 19 September 2004 08:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Does this stream over the net at all?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 19 September 2004 12:32 (twenty-one years ago)

frenchbloke - i'm really not sure but probably did.

streaming - nope, it's a community radio station and they can't afford the $50,000 to set up an internet version.

phil turnbull (philT), Sunday, 19 September 2004 21:20 (twenty-one years ago)

they did a test stream briefly some months ago, that consisted of putting a wee trannie in a cupboard in front of a microphone. response to the resulting sound quality did not encourage persistence with this stopgap.

(actually the last test broadcast [the station's only been on air full-time and licensed for a year, after a decade of applications] circa 1999 had full streaming, but the late C20th was a wondrous time full of easily-excited corporate sponsors for anything under the internetty multimedia umbrella)

kit brash (kit brash), Monday, 20 September 2004 00:04 (twenty-one years ago)

what if I gove the tape to gaz and he can work it into his international cd-r network - if phil is OK with that of course.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 20 September 2004 00:06 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't have such a thing col it is a myth. i can however guarantee that an identical somewhat similar program will appear on a certain other radio station soon only with me as the host

gaz (gaz), Monday, 20 September 2004 00:12 (twenty-one years ago)

*nb a small portable radio, not any kind of William St watersports scenario

kit brash (kit brash), Monday, 20 September 2004 00:12 (twenty-one years ago)

no, that would be 2ser.

gaz (gaz), Monday, 20 September 2004 00:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Where's Troughman? We're talking about streaming trannies and he isn't here.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 20 September 2004 00:15 (twenty-one years ago)

oooer, could somebody tape this for me as well?

(haha this saturday in auckland, there'll probably be two bands covering slugfuckers songs! & I've almost got my hands on cacophony!)

etc, Monday, 20 September 2004 00:54 (twenty-one years ago)

we're getting a copy of the program and tom ellard is going to put it up on sevcom's radio website.

phil turnbull (philT), Monday, 20 September 2004 01:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Sweet. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 20 September 2004 01:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Will my services still be required then gaz? Or can you download from sevcom?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 20 September 2004 01:54 (twenty-one years ago)

also, phil, have you posted to Mono about the show?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 20 September 2004 01:56 (twenty-one years ago)

i can probably listen in yes. onya phil!

gaz (gaz), Monday, 20 September 2004 01:58 (twenty-one years ago)

this looks jolly good, a fair slab of familiar (and completely unfamiliar bands) on that site

mentalist (mentalist), Monday, 20 September 2004 02:05 (twenty-one years ago)

here's the proposed tracklist for the show. there's far too much to fit into 2 hours (including us old folk talking rubbish) so we'll see what we can fit in. tracks 01-20 are essential for the years 78-82.

01 The Thought Criminals - I Won't Pay
02 Tactics - National Health
03 Voigt/465 - Imprint
04 Scapa Flow - The End
05 Seems Twice - Non-Plussed EP
06 The Slugfuckers - Schizo Revolution
07 SoliPsiK - See Saw
08 Wild West - Calling The House
09 Pel Mel - Ipanema Mon Amour
10 The Limp - Pony Club
11 Sekret Sekret - Charity
12 The Tame Omearas - Sweat and Babble
13 Via Veneto - Empty
14 The Goat That Went Om - The Pirate Song
15 No-V-Bleet - [Title Unknown]
16 The Systematics - Pulp Baby
17 The Makers Of The Dead Travel Fast - Tael Of A Saeghors
18 Prod - A Brick Short
19 Scattered Order - Slot Car Synth
20 Ya Ya Choral - Waiting Time
21 No Night Sweats - Mucky Wishes
22 Mr Knott - Talking to a Sleeping Man
23 Moral Fibro - Take A Walk In The Sun
24 Maestros & Dipsos - Backslide
25 Hope Is A New Coat - Cryptic

and, yes, it's up on mono as well.

phil turnbull (philT), Monday, 20 September 2004 05:52 (twenty-one years ago)

very nice. i heard recently something that sounded awfully to me like a Pel Mel retrospective. does such a thing exist? or was it more likely to have been a homemade thing? (the songs didn't sound like they'd come from vinyl....)

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Monday, 20 September 2004 05:54 (twenty-one years ago)

afaik Pel Mel haven't released a retrspective and don't have any such thing planned but... i don't really talk to them much these days. the stuff i've digitised all sounds pretty good - no vinyl detritus or massive tape hiss to worry about. so maybe it was one of those or there's another couple of people doing stuff as well - see http://members.ol.com.au/rgriffin/postpunk/index.html

phil turnbull (philT), Monday, 20 September 2004 05:58 (twenty-one years ago)
